The IS-8 is better than the IS-7 imo

Oh and for a tank that is notorious for having paper armor IS8 bounced a lot of shots.

Paper heavy, feels like a huge medium. Not my kind of tank, but it's playable.

yes its paper shit tank, 1 no gun depresion , if there is a little ( low ) hill and u wanna aim at enemy with only show him your turret , u cant, beause fucked gun depresion  , you should go over the little hill  ( bumb) if u wanna aim at enemy but  then you  get hit from enemy in lower plate and all front, all shots go like true the butter,  this tank is good for nothing :)    if u meet t54 medium is8 will die in close comabt because is8  not enough  manuver , t54 is faster a lot. so what this tank is good for ??   all say this tank have super gun  so no need armor ,  IS7 have a huge front armor, a strong gun, and more speed than is8  , so mby  do for is7 same armor like is8 because it have high speed and gun ???     WOT tank editor is fucked morron , all tanks get stronger and stronger after each update and is8 like was peace of shit , it will be peace of shit.

IS-7's gun is worse and IS-7's agility is far, far worse. Only straight-line speed going down hill is better in it .... and armor of course

IS 8 needs better gun depresion and faster reaload !!

but i think yes it need. it need faster reload or like amx 4 shots magazine. or better take a little bit speed of and add armor with gun depresion. because now ppl who write that this tank is awesome 100% dnt have is8 tank , they 99% have arty and others good heawys and in  minds they laugh from is8 tank because easy kill...

morrons look only at rting , fucked rooster only look at rating, becuse witch team u get and u play , not always win. and more i always ply with 5 fps max because of shit laptop so try you play with 5 fps and u have 10 times worst rating than mine

Good post, the major weakness of IS-8 compared to IS-3 is its massive lower plate in the front. Its huge and on top of it poorly angled. If you look at IS-3 and IS-8 next to each other, you will see that IS-3 pike nose is significantly lower compared to IS-8 nose which almost points upward. That is the massive flaw of IS-8, coupled with poor armor.

Hello guys,

i want to share my experience with the is-8 with other players who might consider to buy him (WoT Vers. 8.5). I myself was a bit worried before i bought him because of his  "mixed" reputation   Btw: English ist not my mother tongue so take it easy on me.  Maybe my experience can help others to get a better picture.


The Stock IS-8 with the BL gun from the IS3 is an absolute pain. Not only that you have serious trouble to penetrate Tier IX, enemies will activly approach you after they realize, that your weapon poses - almost - no threat to them ( i think some1 already mentioned this in this thread, its absolutly true). In this situation your agility becomes a weakness aswell, since your lack of armor will encourage other tanks even more to primary you   . The grind to the elite gun is long and hard and involves many moments of frustration. In short, the stock IS-3 is almost insufferable. Most times, you drive behind the pack or hide somewhere and kill stragglers. Its a more passive approach to the game and an alien feeling for is-3 frontline-fighters.

However...

the character of this tank changes complety with the elite gun. You might say, that this weapon alone cant make such a difference. In fact: it does. Not only that this weapon pens almost everything in actual gameplay and deals scaring amounts of dmg (hello m103: 500dmg frontal), you can see enemies dusting off when they see you and the nice little asskicker   Its difficult to descibe the feeling, when your tank can control the flow of the game, but i can tell you, when i drive my is-8, the smug is mighty   . And suddenly, your weakness (lack of armor) becomes a strength. Pop out, melt faces, get back in, np. Its so easy and so much fun, words cant describe it. And yes, the is-8 is a perfect upgrade to the is-3. While your armor is not as bouncy as the is-3-armor might be, pop-out games work very good . Obviously, with other playstyles this might work less good, it depends after all. One last thing: Other players hinted, that the hull-down position is very good. I couldnt agree more. The turret bounces Tier X shots  

For me, the IS-8 is one of the best tanks so far and his good handling combined with the gun is a pleasure.
