yeah, quite a bit like the type, but the gun is faster with less dmg, and it doesn't snipe as well

Chaffee is a better scout imho, so the t21 got the chop when getting the T71.  I found it a bit big for a scout really, I like being sneaky, like going through the arches on abbey, which the t21 will do, but you can't do it fast - you have to line up perfectly.  my other scouts: luchs elc, chaffee all go through with ease :)

Its not that bad, once got 2000xp, just play as a passive scout hide in the bushes and wait until the road is clear, then destroy enemy arty. If no arty then sneak up on tank destroyers from the back,  that's when they are helpless even the most feared tank destroyers.

This must be sad for all big bad tier 9 tanks when a tier 6 light scout becomes the toptank in the match :p

Getting mixed results in this tank, sometimes it works very well, sometimes my idiot team dosent help me when I spot and drawing the enemies to them.

Main problem, it is kinda big, and I havent learn that the turret is made of cheese, atleast you could bounce some in your M7 and M5 stuart :P

I have right now the worst nightmare with t21. Match maker throw me in deep red teams (600-800 perf.) 9/10 games and i spot 3-4 minutes for 5-6 enemy to get an average 500 dmg, and then my performance suddently drop. Not to mention stange fact : me sitting in the bush with all crew 50% camo+paint+camo net+coated optics get spoted by an kv1s from about 200 m and i spoted him almoust in the same time, very strange 8.6 update.
When i get in decent teams i score top 3 list ... but that is happening 1 / 10 games. I have ace tanker on this nightmare tank but i had a good team then.
I guess mm just punish me with rigged 50% thing....i don't know what to say.

What a fun tank? Okay... would you share some tips please, because that is the last thing I'd call my experience of it so far. :p

I admit I'm not a scout player, but I just don't see how to make it work, especially if I'm one of many scouts on the team
since they're all smaller, faster and usually MUCH better armed too (seriously, F*** WZs). On those occasions when I'm
the only scout, the team is sleeping instead.
I'm half way through the grind, I have only mastery 2nd class and like 45% wins with it and I'm struggling to remember a tank
I hate more.

I only played random battles with it solo, and I had a great time in it. Yea it's a bit team dependant but it was a wickedly fun tank that I was a little bit sad about leaving behind but the T71 more than made up for it. One day when I have an american crew to spare I will buy it back.

Okay how I played it back then, I'm assuming you have it well upgraded including the final gun. Also a solid crew with at least sixth sense and 75% averaged camo over the crew is highly advisable (might work different with redone mechanics in 8.6), but I'll outline the way I approached battles in that tank.

- During the first half of the game I would find passive scouting places with a good possibility to go for cover or run like a wuss.
- Carry a generous load of apcr if you can afford it, personally I have an abundant load of credits and no tank I wish to play floating around so this is a non-issue for me.
- If anyone knows your location, be gone from that spot at least for a while preferably relocate to another suitable location.
- Equip a vertical stabiliser (I ran it with vents and rammer in addition myself, and also tried optics for a while instead of rammer)

I seem to remember that with the good old m1a2 I know and love from my easy eight can pack about 70 rounds in that tank. My typical ammo spread was 40 AP, 35 APCR, 5 HE (for cheap near guaranteed resets). But I could be off on those numbers, what is most important however in the first half of the game do some nice passive scouting if it can be applied to the map but above all survive. If the situation allows you to shoot with a reasonable chance of not being spotted (double bushes, good distance etc) then take your shots, for frontal damage against the heavier targets you may have to shoot APCR if so just do it.

Once the battle gets to the phase where most tanks are located and you can adequately judge the chances of certain approaches etc go out there and kill stuff, preferably use  your mobility to support nearby tanks engaged in a fight, some of the slower functioning heavies you can do the good old drive around the turret, get behind/to the side of casemate hull tds etc. The usual another alternative is to use the known enemy deployment to get to the artillery undetected/safely.

It will take some getting used to since it's a really fragile tank, but I had a great time with it and if you play it that way it's a good preparation for the T71 in many ways because it shares many of the same characteristics when it comes to speed and being fragile yet with the ability to shoot back. Also don't forget that you have 10 degrees gun depression, you'll function a lot better shooting from hilltops than most tanks, use it to your advantage.

Greetings

I'm rushing to get t71 and tbh i'm not complaining at all about t21,it's really fun to play, been used from french light line so i found it pretty good, especially that traverse speed...60!!!serious??!?that's 20 more than the amx line!Anyway, since i'm on  a standard account, i wanted to ask if the engine upgrade is really worth it because on paper 40hp doesn't seem a huge amount, anyone can tell if there are obvious improvements?

It's a 7.7% improvement over the stock engine, not the end of the world to not have it. But in any mobile tank I'd almost always suggest getting it. Since it isn't required to move on to the T71 you can skip it I suppose...

Fun tank, if you're patient you can really put out nasty 2400 DPM into some heavies behind. And scout just fine with 390m of course.
Certainly better than the dreadful 59-16 or AMX12t.

I have to agree T21 is a fun light tank. I don't drive too much light tanks but this tank has a good feel to it and you can really do damage with gold shells in big tier games if you have patience and use gold ammo. Yesterday evening I ended up in T10 game with this and got over 2k xp and Orliks medal. Destroyed Leopard PT A, IS-8 and ISU. Was a really fun match.

Here's the replay if someone want to watch it. Not a perfect play but got the job done

The question is do you want to to the 60k XP needed without upgrading the T21 as much as possible?  Of course if you've almost unlocke the T20 or T25-xx TDs then you get it there.

I am amazed how well some of you guys do in this tank, mine is still stock and it sees mostly tier 9 and 10 battles and its totally useless and is killed with one shot! I don't survive long enough to get XP to upgrade it!!!

god bless the last battle i had in this tank and finally i could throw it in the gargabe. it took me a couple battles to unlock the T71, i actually grinded it quite fast.

altough i hated this crappy tank, i did pretty good in it (yeah i know that's weird). the MM was decent for the tier, balanced between t9 battles and same tier battles.

T21 is superior to the Type 59-16 and the mt 25 but worse than VK 28.01 and 12t.

Only tier 9/10 mm so far. Out of game in 2 minutes. Very much fun this tank. I am surprised how many of you do 2k damage in tier 10 games with this tank. I must be a real noob it seems.

Although I had quite a few good games in the t21, I really fucking hate this tank, though mainly for the matchmaking, because after grinding (and I mean grinding in the most negative meaning of the word) about 30k xp I maybe had 4 games with arty.
The other thing is that EVERY TIME I get hit, it loses the tracks and at least two modules / Crew members and catches fire and it is really hard to not hit this tank considering its size.
I've played scouts before and enjoyed them, but this thing is just really really painful grind to me, and I can't wait to sell it.
