Greetings folks!

Let me present to you:

My modelling project about tanks, aircraft and naval vessels!

Featuring mostly Revell miniatures

Maybe a small introduction first:

I am not a newb to modelling. I have been doing Warhammer minatures some years ago, but to be honest, most of it is complete garbage. Later I eventually improved alot and did some decent ones, as you are going to see on the pictures in this post.

I didnt really do anything in this direction for the past 2-3 years, I dont really know why, probably because I simply lost interest in it and also these things are expensive as crap.

But now I wanted to do something again. As I am not really into Warhammer (40k) anymore, I thought about doing something more realistic (and also something less expensive :glasses: ) so I decided to get a WWII miniature and refresh my old and dusty arsenal of colors, brushes and tools from the Warhammer times.

Now I want to share my progress with you!

But first, how about some pictures of some WH40k stuff?

Posted Image
This one is a Land Speeder and some Space Marine Scouts, also a Captain and a Terminator from the Space Hulk game set.

Posted Image
Again some Terminators and Scouts.

Posted Image
Oh, and btw thats the crap I did years ago  but lets not go into detail here shall we :bajan:

So yeah, that is that.

Now, lets get to the really interesting stuff: The minature I bought!

Have a look at this good-looking shiny plastic:

Jesus, these tracks are gonna f**k me up good :harp:

Well, if you havnt guessed yet... it is a Panther! Yay!
Posted Image

Also, there is the possibility to build two version of the tank: The early one (presumably Ausf. D) and the late one (Ausf. A maybe?).
I havnt really decided which one I am gonna go for so answer the question at the top to help me decide:
Posted Image

Oh, btw, whats that? A shiny little sticker on the bottom right of the box? A WoT bonus-code!
Yay I am getting a week of premium, 450 Gold and a S35 tank for free!

Btw thats a special for some Revell minatures here in Germany. I dont know if you can get these anywhere else, but be sure to check it out!

So now that we know about the package, lets take a look at my equipment. As I said before, this is a mixture of still usable Warhammer stuff and freshly bought Revell tools. (Oh, and also a cutter i got from the place where I work :glasses: )

Posted Image
Some Revell as well as Citadel (the company behind Warhammers stuff) colors, also a can with black foundation.

Posted Image
Some other nice tools, including plastic glue, super glue, cutter, side cutter, modelling paste and 3 different brushes, 2 for details and one for bigger things like dry brush.

I also havnt decided on the camo pattern yet, you can help me with this one, too!

I am probably going to start with this on this weekend. I will keep this thread updated to let you guys know and see my progress! Maybe you have some nice advices too :blinky:

Update 1 Part 1: Building the suspension

Build part 1: the suspension

So i started today with building the minature and went for the suspension first. Although the manual told me to mount it, including the wheels, directly on the lower hull, i decided to not do that in order to make the painting process alot easier.

So, here we go:

List of tools used:

-Cutter
-Side Cutter
-Plastic Glue
-Super Glue

I went ahead and cut the wheels out of the casting frame, using the Side Cutter. After that, i removed the mod lines using the Cutter.

I fitst cut some scratches into the wheels, to make it look more battleworn and less factory new:

Then i started putting the suspension together:

The next step covers the tracks. Man, that was alot of detail work! (Some Super Glue is useful to get the smallest trackparts to stuck to the wheels faster)
Posted Image

After all track-pieces are glued onto the wheels, the suspension is finished!

NEXT PART FOLLOWING SOON!

That is some kind of powder you can use to realistic simulate rust, dirt, dust etc. this page explains more http://www.interneth...com/seofpi.html

That is how i achieved the effects on this tank.

Spoiler

I ordered some pigments (black, white, terra brown) via Amazon. Thanks for your suggestion! But one more question, how exactly do they stick to the paint on the modell? Because i dont have any turpentine or this exotic stuff...

Edit: I should get this, right?

http://www.amazon.de...4490154&sr=8-14

Edit2: Got some AK Pigment Fixer :)

I have Tiger II from this WoT-Revell promo. The tracks were really annoying and they look bad on my tank.
Posted Image

Id go with such camo. I have almost same one on my model. Ive used Reflective Green, Schokolade Braun and Yellow Ochre from Vallejo to paint it and it looks good.
