Hello!
I have progressed through the American light tank from T1 cunningham to M2 Light to M3 Stuart and I am now the owner of an M5 Stuart. This leaves me to choose between an M7 or the M24 Chaffee. The M7 costs 13,000xp and offers me the opportunity to progress through tanks up to tier X. The Chaffee costs 55,000xp and is a dead end in the tech tree. The Chaffee is comparable to the ELC AMX, a tier V French light tank. The ELC AMX costs nowhere near as much as this.

Can anybody tell me why the M24 Chaffee costs 55,000xp?

because its a end of line tank as you might see, and its a dedicated scout, which means that you are put into tier 6-10 battles to be a spotter for tier 6-8 artillery. which can really payoff if you know how to spot properly without dying, because its often 2 shots and you're dead.

thats why.

and i dont recommend you get this tank, because it really suck as all other tier 5 scouts if you have not atleast grinded tier 8-10, so you know what you are up against in the tier 5 scout.

just my 2 cent

because it's end of the line but the ELC isn't. like the t-50-2 costs 62500 i think it is, and the VK2801 is similar. cant give you any deeper explanation than that but maybe someone else can.

yeah, that is true, its probably so you learn it, but tier 4 scouts can get tier 5 battles where they are really good fighting tanks. I have proof on that, i dear you... i double dear you :P

Seger!
Strid: Stäpp den 5 april 2013 00:08:20
Fordon: M24 Chaffee
Erfarenhet mottagen: 2 448
Krediter mottagna: 34 353

I had prem on and still just gained 2789 cash after all was payed for, no prem ammo used but I used 100 octaine oil and got 180 points shoot away from my chaffe.

I think that if I had used a Leopard and done the same I would have got mabe 45 000 after all was payed for.since i deliverd 2684 damige and helped my team mates deliver 989 damige

So chaffee is really fun but I would newer use it whitout prem on.

Olle1980

Sorry just counted the ammo I used and I must have used all my normal ammo and used 7premium emegency ammo to... thats why I gained so little money.

It's weighted and performs as a Tier 6, and it can take Tier 6 tanks out no problem. Also it gets serious matchmaking, I'd just reiterate what others have said, do not go for the M24 being a new player as you are. You won't have a clue why you are constantly meeting Tier 10s and you'll just end up not having fun.

Play the M7 and beyond first, in the mean time you can slowly keep playing your Stuart and unlock the Chaffee once you have a few thousand battles under your belt
:)

It's a fantastic tank and once you understand the game more you'll be able to enjoy it and exploit its full potential.

indeed, and yes! you don't need to 'dear' me (it's dare btw I guess English to be your 2nd language?)  8 kills for tier 4 Leopard in tier 5 Ace mastery badge winning match on Malinovka made me very much aware of their fighting prowess, but, what is this proof you have? I am expecting a similar battle result perhaps...

Expensive, well yes, but all end of line scouts are....and expensive to run.  They do, however, get you in some v.high tier games earlier than any other tank.
This is a steep learning curve.  Still, it is the most fun I have whether I am sitting in a bush lighting targets in a high tier game or being an utter nuisance to the enemy in mid tier games.

Oh, the longer you survive the more powerful you become....

Your English is fine you only got 3 letters out of place! and no it's no insult, I was just saying that you needn't double dare me to ask for proof that tier 4 scouts can be good fighting tanks, because I have seen the proof already, and made my own with that game in the Leo amongst others. Still interested to see these replays though, so thanks! will check them out now.

chaffee is a tank that you will love it or hate it , all depends on you play style , chaffee has max view range and you can really help you team on spotting the enemy before the heavies decide where to go.  it is very agile if you wait for the right moment when everyone is fighting each other you can use your speed and agility to sneak through even through the middle of the battle and you can find those arty's in their base and kill them easily.

Overall is a great tank you can move fast and score a couple of hits on the back of tier 10 vehicles '( i once manage to kill one to if you know where to aim ) you can be a big help in your team. dont try to score kills the damage you do by firing a couple of hits with the very fast gun of the chaffee you will get more xp and credits Know when to split the scene and live to fight another day.

400+ view range on a tank that can stay invisible to 300m or less- whilst running around at full speed- to other tanks with the same view range can be pretty trollish.

Yeah the stuart one wouldn't work for me the client just warned of a different version then closed when I selected to play it anyway. nice 7 kills there for the t50 though, but you stayed way longer than I would have shooting at that StugIII, but luckily got away with it and pretty much owned the match there. gj.

As said, it's actually balanced like it's tier a 6 rather then tier 5 and it's quite strong for that tier even as well. With the VK2801 nerfed so is it in my oppinion the best out of the tier 5-6 lights. Good view range plus a good gun makes it quite able. You can almost always spot enemies further away then they see you, only those hiding in a bush is safe from that.
