Not just "probably", Sweden has been confirmed a number of times as being part of the EU tree by statements made by Wargaming employees

The "probably" referred to the possibility of a standalone Swedish tree. :V

Brilliant idea! Bringing light to the less mentioned and famous tanks in the world! WG could maybe also add an Italian tank tree, (I won't put the names down - this topic is dedicated to Swedish tanks), but the idea of a Swedish tank tree is awesome!

:great:

A good +1 from me also. Good research, nice pictures and interesting tanks.

Well put together as well, but that will ofc be up to wargaming to define.

Some more details about that strv m/41 proposal: in mid-1943, the strv m/41 (TNH-S) and strv m/42 deliveries were in progress but judging by disturbing intelligence reports from Finland and Germany, they really weren't up to the latest modern standards. Some army people had been allowed to study captured Soviet T-34's in Finland and were particularly impressed by its powerful diesel engine and heavily sloped armor. A successor to the Swedish tanks then in production was needed, and soon. Some people at the Royal Artillery and Ordnance Administration were convinced that it was necessary to lift the 22 tonne weight limit (imposed for the sake of strategic mobility, since most Swedish bridges could not tolerate any greater mass), but it was also recognised that lighter tanks had a role to play.

Because of the need for a speedy development process and to avoid re-tooling existing production lines, Scania-Vabis (which was ordinarily a manufacturer of trucks and buses, but also contracted to license build the strv m/41) was asked to investigate in which ways the strv m/41 could be improved without losing too much time. The result was described in a letter dated July 21st, 1943, which contains the two photos above.

Scania-Vabis (seemingly inspired by the T-34 and similar modern designs) proposed two hull alternatives (1 and 2) and two turret alternatives (a and b); the turrets were compatible with both proposed hulls. Hull 1 (the first photo) attempted to keep parts commonality with the existing strv m/41 as far as possible; the main changes were slightly wider tracks and road wheels, sloping the armor, switching to welded seams in many of places and improving the driver's position in a few ways (better periscope and a bit more room). The resulting tank was calculated to weigh 13 tonnes, two more than the strv m/41.

Hull 2 was essentially a new tank; the chassis had been redesigned to be able to fit a new 8-cylinder engine capable of producing 220 HP. The hull armor was improved and the tank was calculated to weigh 15 tonnes. The road wheel arrangement had also been modified, and the bottom plate of the tank was curved to help protect against mines. Scania-Vabis admitted that in order to get production of this proposal going, quite some engineering effort and retooling would be required.

The turrets were similar to each other, the main difference being that turret b had a rounded mantlet and the machine gun fixed in a coaxial position, while on turret a aiming the machine gun independently was possible.

In the end neither proposal was accepted, although I haven't been able to find the exact reasoning for why in the archives just yet.

I think WG said something about sweedish tanks in the EU tree. But a pure sweedish tank line would be awesome :)
However, I heard something about WG working on an italian tech tree atm!

There is much rumours, Silenstalker(FTR blog) also did pushed idea of Czechoslovakia complete tree to highest ranks of WG with promo at russian forum and they are seriously considering this as russian players did showed interest and SerB didnt criticized that idea.

On the other side Mr. Pasholok didnt agreed.

Italian MT branch is on the other side supported by him. I think they believe it can attach interest not only in Italia but also in american italians.

Maybe. Hopefully we will see more tanks soon:-)

Reposting some stuff from the US forums here

We found a drawing related to the Scania-Vabis proposal for the upgraded Strv m/41 (it would probably have been designated Strv m/41-SIII) but this time with a 5 round 57mm autoloader in a different turret, and i think the hull is slightly different from the models aswell (sorry for the poor quality but this is thebest its going to get)

Armament: 57mm Kan L/55 (improved 57mm l/50,5 Pvkan m/43)
Autoloader capacity: 5 rounds

Elevation/Depression: +17/-10

So we just had our first look at the Landsverk drawing archives and it seems it is as big of a goldmine as we have hoped, we have just scratched the surface of what is there but this is some of the stuff we have found

Drawing for the hull of the Landsverk "Pricken" 30 tonne medium tank, we know this vehicle was to be armed with either a 75 or 105mm gun and have a top speed of 60kph from a earlier document

L-80 light tank drawing from the 1930s (we will have more detailed pictures of the drawings from this section of the arrchive tommorow)

Drawing of unknown armoured car with tracks

EDIT: Drawing of turret armed with 40mm cannon for the export L-60 to Hungary

here is some of the stuff we found today

Early drawing of the Landsverk L-62 with the same suspension as the Strv m/31

Another version of the L-62 with fully enclosed turret?, and no before you ask it does not have a gatling gun, its just a different 40mm

Landsverk L-63 same chassis but armed with 25mm autocannon

Landsverk L-64, same as above but with 20mm autocannon

Landsverk L-65 a version with a prolonged chassis and armed with with a 47mm autocannon

These were obviously intended for export as they have english text

An interesting side effect of the turbulent economic situation in Russia is that we might see an EU tree sooner as the the European market becomes a larger share of WG's revenue.
