It would be bit more neutral to have 'Special Hangers' for each nations Armed Forces Day or equivelent.

It doesn't have to be as overt as the Russian Victory Day one. In fact if it was reasonably subtle then things like VE Day could be marked.

For example, from a UK perspective Battle of Britain Day could be marked with a model of a Spitfire appearing on a side table or suspended from the roof and maybe VE Day by the young Princesses Elizabeth and Margret glancing in at the door[1].

More seriously it might be a nice gesture to suspend play of some nations tanks for a period on their national day of mourning. So, for example, British (and therefor also Commonwealth) and French tanks could be prevented from entering battles, with a suitable message, from 10:40 to 11:02 on 11 November, so that none are in play during the national periods of silence that begin at 11 am. A similar period could be observed for German tanks on Volkstrauertag and for US tanks on Memorial Day.

[1] On VE Day 1945 the future Queen Elizabeth the Second and her sister went out for a walk, incognito and on their own, through the celebrating crowds.

Why not what's wrong with it?

Um. Do you really not know?

'Victory Day' celebrates Victory over GERMANY in 1945.

Thats Berlin, in 1945. Lots of not very nice things happened to Germans in Berlin in 1945 - and the NKVD was the least of it.

The Dome in the background is the Reichstag building in Berlin - the place where the current German Parliament meets.

Thats the current capital of Germany in ruins there, pictured at a time when the life of a German civilian was very cheap. Pictured at the start of a period where it was split in two and people died trying to cross between the parts.

It may be 'historically accurate', and Germany under the Third Reich was not exactly the least provocative and most friendly country that there has ever been, but its not the nicest of things for a German to see on their weekend off. I can well understand why a german might, on the whole, 'not really fancy this'.

By the way, I'm British.

PS. I can remember the thill of walking through the Brandenburg Gate and down Unter den Linden, areas formally within the 'Death Zone', in the early 1990's. For this old Cold Warrior it was quite something.

@ricksbt
Take my +1

Yes, the "occupation" of russian army in germany wasnt very nice... ask woman between 10 and 50 years old about it (in 1945, not now), they won't tell any funny stories.
Sure, the 3rd reich did horrible, disgusting things... but russians aren't a bit better, the number of death in gulags are 3-times more than in the KZ's.

So, it's a good thing that Nazigermany is no more, but it gives me stomach ache how the russian reception shows this.

I doubt they'll put this on the EU server simply because it could be offending to Germans.

Which is a shame because I do think it looks rather cool.

At this point I am going to remind myself of rule 2.6 of the forums:

2. PROHIBITIONS and RESTRICTIONS
2.6 Politics, Major Religions or Religious Figures
Posting about social, religious, political, illegal or other controversial topics that may create offence. As well as negative portrayal of religious and political figures.

I think we are in danger of breaching that rule, we may even have crossed the line. So I will not post my very long, carefully thought out and calming post. All I will say is grading evil regimes by degrees of evil is fraught with various dangers and using the actions of their grandparents against anybody is a low blow indeed.

Have fun on that battlefield, but never forget the horrors that lie behind it.
