I enjoyed the T44 with the LB1 gun, but have just unlocked the top gun (or the one with 200 pen, better acc etc) and its an absolute beast of a tank now.. Only had a few games in it but getting 3-4k damage, and that's only shooting a couple of prem rounds. Its very quick, amour is bouncy, gun reloads fast so can really pump out the damage.

Glad I bought it and a real upgrade on the t44. If you are top tier in this thing you can reap havoc !

my upgrade path was, mount the LB1, top radio from t44. then engine, turret, top gun of your choice. don't need tracks at all so research them last.

I went engine before turret because you need to flank in a medium, and stock engine is too slow. The 2nd turret does give more hitpoints and gets alot more bounces than the stock turret thou. I also recommend saving up some credits and shooting premium ammo with the LB1 gun to get that XP rollling as 175 pen in T9/10 games really isn't enough. prem ammo gets 235 pen, same damage.

good luck

Enjoy !

So anyone from the 8.6 test server?

What are the cost of AP and HEAT shells now? (Old AP 1230 old HEAT 10gold)
How about penetration now? (old AP 201-219 and HEAT 350)
Did you notice the mentioned graphical improvements?
Did you notice alot more bouncing shots cos of the nerfs to the ammo?

bump up to 2nd page, could someone check who bothers to try the test server? Thanks!

Current values on test:
pen: 201-219 AP, 330 HEAT
cost: 1230 credits AP, 12 gold / 4800 credits HEAT

Thanks, so the high shell cost didnt go any lower. Considering, previous gun ammo cost was 250, now 1230, i think the jump is bit high, but well, if the credit income buff helps for not getting those -20,000credit games some times. HEAT nerf is bit over the top, not only did they lower the pen, they increased the cost also, and not only that, the whole HEAT mechanics was altered so...

The shell price is indeed the highest among all the mediums considering price-damage ratio, but suprisingly I earn money each game in my beloved t-54(sometimes of course I lose, but in the average I'm about 2,5k on plus). And I don't have premium account- with it it would be great moneymaker.

But of course, I wouldn't complain if the cost would go a little bit down, because it really feels inadequate.

Best tank I've driven so far. It's just so versatile! Great mobility, camo and accuracy with the D-10T2C. Armour isn't that great with all those new monster guns but it's still impervious to <200mm pen frontally (not counting lucky weakspot hits). So yeah, definitely still worth it.

I got mine only a week ago. This thing is the most fun I've had since T71. Never underestimate the troll factor of a 200mm turret. Ive bounced most of tier10 tanks on sandriver because all they can see is the turret of my oddly parked t-54. Granted, most of them are probably autobounce zone bounces but that doesnt stop tier 10s from trying. Its fast and agile with a quite good camo. I play with the 201mm cannon and it is enough because you should be flanking anyway.
It has been so good to me that im already on 160k exp with all the modules unlocked. Cant recommend enough.

Haven't played a lot of games with the T-54 yet, but so far I'm really liking it, and most likely will keep it forever.

It can brawl, It can flank, it's fast enough for jumping between different flanks and bounces shots from tanks of equal and higher tiers. What else would anyone need from a tank ?

driving into the magic forest in murovanka from the side that does not have it beside spawn at 1x R speed for not getting spotted and klingon camo the entire enemy team is still priceless.

I think for randoms tier VIII-IX is the most fun. So my take on this would be: get the T-54 and about T62 blah who cares. Personaly I didn't like the tank on test server. Ye I do recognize as a nice little annoying machine but I rather stick with M46 patton 8-)

or you could... you know.... just get all teir 9 meds in game (only need cent 7/1, wz-120 and e-50 and i got them all) tier 9 meds are the sweet spot of fun IMHO. best combi of armor/speed/firepower (except the lorry that thing is just sad)

I guess for me also T-54 is "the" go to tank since it's so versatile.

If you want to snipe, the more accurate newer gun is pretty good especially if you can spare some HEAT rounds. I often snipe early on in the game and switch to more aggressive stance later on.

It has the camo rating for scouting as already mentioned. It has low height, which means you can duck fast.

It has speed and agility for flanking and brawling and troll like turret armor.

Repair speed is fast.

I guess you can judge a great tank by the fact T-54 doesn't have any bad qualities, except ammo cost but that really does not matter in actual combat.

Assuming, it will play the same way as my T-44 fully upgraded, I'm really eager to get it.

Ofcourse, it's going to be tough driving when it's still stock, but that goes for almost every tank in the game. I'm hoping it will be as fun as the T-44 with LB-1, because it's a great tank already.

Gameplay is a bit different in t-44, because you can count on your armor a little bit more, so it encourages you for more aggresive behavior, but generally if you liked t-44 you will enjoy every minute of playing t-54 :)

I thought i would love this tank. But damn...i love it more then i thought. Had a game with 7 k damage...its perfection of a tank in any way.

I sell my t-54 and partly with that money i bought t-62a. t54 winning percent was 52% moment i sell it. After 200 games t62 my winning percent become 54%. It was easy play and make damage, no need to use gold ammo. One game i get 10,6 damage, first killed couple of scouts then supporting heavies from long distance and last one, killed couple of enemy slow tds.

Then it began, last weekend i get total losing streak. I played all day and tested how long is it going to take, and it take long. Amazing games, no matter what i did, allways losed. Now t-62 winning percent is about barely 49 %, even below.

Then i looked one opponents stats after game, he had same tank and very similar stats. Average damage he had only 100 point more, but winning percent was 56%.

Another opponents which luckyly came to same game twice in randoms. Really good player, ruled those games very well and solved them to enemy, unfortunately.  He was really good bat player. Looking hes stats, played t62 about 200 games and winning percent 50%. Overall percent were 55-60, cant remember excactly.

I have come to conclusion that if you want good stats, stop playing when loosing strike begins. My moment is usually sunday, dont know why but i have seen it so many times. I must be paranoid, but i cant figure out why those bad games come like chain. They should come randomly, lose, win, lose, win, win, lose, lose, win...........

And there are thirty player in one game, ones impact cant be so important if you play so that get damage about you own vehicle points...

Well to provide a little balance... I haven't enjoyed playing my T-54 for a while now... I'm quite prepared to believe that it's me more than the tank (it's fully pimped with 100% crew ), but it just doesn't seem to suit me. For sure, once in a while I have a great game, but I find myself often over matched against large numbers of tier X heavies. The maps don't really suit scouting in a medium in top tier matches. View ranges on the opponents are too long and guns too high in damage. Arty is also the bane of my life since at this level it only takes one shot to ruin your day.

A good game in it is TOTALLY dependent on your team. If you have one that works well together it's still beautiful, but as we all know, that's rare these days and most Tier X matches are camp / slugfest in public games.

I'd say that when you get it, don't believe the hype... you will get damaged more than you bounce... play to it's strengths, you're very mobile, so make a good "fire brigade" able to cover large distances and get round the map to reinforce when needed... spotting is possible, but you aren't a scout and WILL be spotted all the time. Take 6th sense... I didn't and am still paying for it. I'm using a crew that came all the way through my medium line and didn't know enough to pick it originally.

It can be a fun tank, but be prepared for a lot of frustration. Critical hits will often remove your advantages... ammo rack, tracks etc... will make you a slow, vulnerable target.

After all that though, I still love it, and am slowly grinding to the T-62a, if only to give me more of a chance in tier X battles...

Good luck !

THis could have been written by me. I might just add that the T-62A was a step backwards, thus I sold it after 40+ games. I rarely play my T-54 anymore either. It just does not seem to fit me any more, I have way more fun playing turretless TD's and VK3601(H) + Tiger(P).

I bought my T-44 and played 1 battle (bought it 3 weeks ago), it's just awful stock, I don't even want to bother.

But I want my T-54 badly...

Save some free exp and research at least something.. also if you have enough money you can buy 1500 gold and convert exp...
