Maybe I'm being too harsh, but War Thunder is a game about planes from WW2 and they are planning on adding tanks into the game.
Their tanks look 95% the same, even environment is almost the same, I dont understand that.

I would like WoT players to discuss that here.

Moved to correct section.

I would like to point out that apparently it was Wargaming that copied Warthunder wrt World of Warplanes, in fact it wasn't always called Warthunder. WT started development in 2009 and was called World of Planes I believe (wiki - for this info - but I had already read this on Warthunders own wbsite a while back on a number of occasions). They later changed the name to Warthunder to avoid conflict with WoWP which WG had started developing and for other reasons. But Yes, WG were there first with tanks, WT were there first with planes. The race is on to see who provides a better overall experience. My money goes to the winner I reckon. Competition can only be good for the playerbase.

Really? I didnt know that. Since both of the companies state their existence date as from 2008, I thought first tank game was WoT.

The actual blueprints are unique, so any 3d model of the same tank will invariably look the same. Neither WG, nor WT have copyright ownership of the actual designs, so this is a non-issue.

But why would they create the same game, or very look-alike?

CoD vs Battlefield?

They seem pretty similar.

Why not? It is no secret that some would LOVE to "surf" on a hype wave... look at War Z game versus DayZ mod, or franchises entering competitions. Or how Battlefield has gone to a yearly iteration, from what was in its old days.

If they think they have a better product and "steal" the show, cool. Of course, they can end up crashing and burning like SWTOR :)

There's only so much you can do with tanks. Drive around, aim, shoot, reload, rotate turret, rinse and repeat.
Now the differences are in gameplay implementation. You can have more (or less) players in a team, more teams (e.g. 3-way or 4-way battles), different maps, that sort of stuff. But the basics remain.
Yeah, I could think of quite a few nice game modifications out there, e.g. automatic driving (tank goes full speed ahead by itself and you can only control left/right and shoot, heh heh)...

Exactly. Companies trying to out do the others is only good for players like us! :)

Compare this to WOT tiger.

Much more detailed texture in dunkelgelb not in panzergrau, also some "utility parts" moved around. But its still a Tiger.

Google some decent "historical" texture for WoT availalbe tanks and you can get no less impressive sight. Also keep in mind Tiger was one of the first tanks modeled for game, files are dating back to the end of 2010.

I'm off to WT as soon as they implement ground combat... just played four games of WoT and already had enough for today. Teamkillers, AFKers (I counted 10 AFK tanks in those 4 games... and those were only the ones on my teams) and window licking retards everywhere. I usually don't whine like this, but everybody has his limit and I've just reached mine.

It is hard to imagine how the gameplay could get any worse at this point (and not primarily because of the game itself, but because of the playerbase). And if 8.6 really turns out to be a big arty buff, WoT is definately dead for me.

While i do say that this Tiger looks pretty damn good i want to point out that promotional banners and wallpapers released from WG, just take the log-in screen ones, also look much much better than the actual in-game tanks.
Or just take special effects from trailers, you're not gonna find any of that in the game. (like turrets getting blown off tanks)

That is why i will wait till i see an actual ingame model till i pass judgement wich one looks better.

I have to admire your optimism in thinking you won't meet with exactly the same in WT
