Since the accuracy buff, even pekabooing with half-aimed crosshair will usually mean a hit, as most shots go dead center. On the other hand, T29 has always been weak to arty, since it's the only thing that can actually threaten it when it gets a proper hull down, and spall liners got a buff.

So, is it a good idea to forget V-stabilizer and mount a Spall Liner instead?

I would stick with the classic combination of GLD, Vents & Rammer. You still ain't an E 50 that rams like a boss, so getting the most out of your gun should be your first priority.

V-Stab always helps, especially when shooting while moving. Moving helps with not-getting-hit and if pulled off succesfully it grants you a 100% protection to damage. You need to spend less time aiming with a stabilizer, so you can move away back into hiding quicker.

Spall Liner adds a percentage to your armor... 5%? So your front plate will be calculated as being 105mm thick instead of 100mm versus HE(AT) shells. It won't help against regular shells.

In my opinion, V-Stab all the way.

I'd go for the V-stabs if I were you. Generally, IMO, if you can put V-stabs on a tank, you put V-stabs on a tank.

stabiliser, since arties are not really a threat any more.

I would go stabilizer. Arty aren't worth using a spall liner for now. They will still get you at some point but I think a Vert Stab will improve you a great deal more. Stick with it and if you get hit by arty in each game then use it...or change your tactics.

VStab is not optional in my opinion. Plus arty is no longer a factor, so why waste an equipment slot on spall liners?

As you are now "lucky" to see a single arty in a game, spall liner seems wasted money to me.

Get stabilizer, because spall liner is not very useful.. Your T29 has 0.42 accuracy, so stabilizer helps when you move.. And even if spall liner gives "+25% protection from HE and ramming", it is not that useful. It does not help against overpowered nuke shells that penetrate, only against directs that don´t pen and splash.. And your T29 gets rammed maybe 1 in 100 games. But if you get nuked much, give it a try :great:

Spall liner or not if arty hits your T29 you will take massive damage anyways. The reduction with spall liner is so small that it is effectively useless. Even if the enemy spams your turret with He to take out your gun the spall liner doesn't help you there either. I'd rather put even camo nets or binocs on T29 than spall liners.

Rammer Vert Stab and Vents is my current set up, I will consider Spall Liner when my crew is better and would probably remove the vents to fit it.

Might do it sooner if I get a lot of arty damage.

Spall liners are rubbish, vertical stabilisers are mandatory.

You put a V-stab on every single tank that can equip it, everything else is optional.

What about V-Stab versus GLD? Which is better on the T29?

Rammer, VStab, Optics

Seeing = shooting first
Vents is a total waste in my book. Only good if combined with BiA crew.

vstab is always better than gld. as was said above, you always equip vstab on tanks that can have it.

vstab rammer vents is what i run on t29

Vstab ofc. Spall liner is only good for tanks that have big armour(T29 is not one of them), and arty is not a problem anymore
