The Churchill III has a couple of advantages, aside from being on sale - the best XP multiplier of any premium in the game being the main one.  The armour is ok, the gun has weak alpha but an extremely high ROF (and unlike the Matilda BP you actually carry a very decent stock of ammo), not to mention using extremely cheap ammo, and lastly, you never see anything over tier 6.  Which is a very good thing, because anyone that's played the AT-2 with the 6-pounder gun will know how ineffective that is against tier 7 tanks.  So yeah, I think it's a no-brainer myself, the only things the Excelsior has over the Churchill are better mobility and better all round armour.

I'd rather get garage slots for that gold instead of a Churchill 3. Seems a lot better value for your money.

Well I've just picked up the churchill whilst it's on offer. Seems rude not to at the price. Haven't played it yet though.

The Excelsior is a good tank in its own right. As well as it being a bouncy, fun tank its also a great crew trainer for your Brit heavies. I mean it's no TOG but what is?

Interestingly enough, Excelsior is currently best performing tier 5 heavy in Noobmeter list out of current offerings (KV-220 has first spot but those tanks haven`t been available for ages and player amount is tiny).

I got the Excelsior in the end. I've only managed 7 battles but 6 were victories, so so far so good!

Excelsior is indeed very good tank. If you like it you should get normal Matilda from British tree. Similar play style and lots of fun.

Also, on behalf of high tier players i thank you for not buying Lowe or such. Your stats are not yet impressive but i think youre on good way to become Pokemon Champi..... good WoT player!

The Brit Church 1 has worse armor than the Russian Church 3. But it has a far better gun.

Excelsior has even better armor front and back. But very tricky armor on the sides. The gun only struggles against things you'd expect to have trouble with in any other Tier 5 tank. So a few premium rounds are advised if you do get it. Much more fun to drive because of the speed.
