MOO and MOO2 were among the most amazing space strategy games ever. True products of the era when you couldn't have amazing graphics so you had to "compensate" with amazing gameplay. Nowadays every other game is like "Zomg look at how cool this looks with 16x antialiasing" but you've spent your hard earned cash on it and the replay value is close to nonexistent. Of course I'm not referring to EVERY game out there but I hope you get my drift.

At any rate, I'm not happy to see the MOO rights being bought by a company that is active in the MMO market. These were single player games for strategy afficionados. I doubt they could be remade into an MMO true to the actual MOO concept. I could be wrong, but somehow I don't think I am.

Edit: the usual typos.

MoO II, fond memories. Anyone who liked that game should take a look at Endless Space.

Reading that, they also bought the rights on Total Annihilation, so coupled with MoO, they got two very strong franchises in their hold now. Not sure what to think of it yet...

Pretty much the only game out there now that resembles MOO in any form. Worth taking a look into if you're fans of the original.

Only if they nerf the Reichsflugscheiben into the ground. Which is pretty likely.

So that's where all our money went, not using it to fix the game or anything, just buying more games to make more customers angry...

Theres clearly still demand for it, else the likes of GOG (good old games) would not be making money from merely repackaging the original game clients to work on modern systems
If they can breath some fresh life into the franchise while retaining what made it special, good luck to them, they'll have something very special

"IF"

As for where the money is spent, most game studios operate the same way, you'll never see a game where every penny made is re-invested in the product it came from

Master of Orion 2 - wow I spent half my childhood with this game.

I tried nearly every "remake" but not a single one was as great as the original.

Somehow cant imagine how Wargaming will use those rights though ...
