I mostly play a Jumbo, so I rely a lot on my armor and correctly sloping it uphill, in order to expose just my turret.
Of course, several times I'll bounce enemy shells, just to be penetrated after a while as they start using gold rounds.

My problem is that I often don't know whether I'm being penetrated because I'm not correctly positioned or because the enemy is simply using gold ammo...
I'd really love a way to see (either in game or post-game) what kind of ammo was used to penetrate my tank.... how does that sound to you?

People claim that the tracers are different colours I don't buy that though
Also if  it's a HEAT shell it'll leave very very very tiny holes

As far as I can tell with HEAT you will hear a fizzing hissing noise when it hits you, as well as the fact you are probably being penned somewhere rather annoying that would be a bounce with an AP round.
The only thing I can tell you about APCR is that the shells velocity is much higher than standard AP, but in all honesty that's somewhat useless info as you aren't likely to be sitting there judging the shells speed as it hits you.
