330 pen is hardly lacking. Obviously you use normal ammo only for targets that you can penetrate. The lack of a turret doesn't matter: you use camo to engage targets from a distance. And even if you have to circle the enemies, the O416 is agile enough to do it even without a 360° turning turret.

It's a weird tank.  Still upgrading mine.  Just added the turret and awaiting the gun.
Seems to work well as a spotter right now due to it's speed and camo.  Can't fight anything in close combat without taking damage.

The tank is amazing. It has of course the known drawbacks: no armor, no gun depression, limited turret traverse. But it has very high dpm and enough penetration, best camo of all high tier tanks, good mobility.

It's not a true MT but it's also not a strict TD. You can flank and scout very effectively, but on maps you can't use the typical MT routes. I think most players underestimate it ... And then they are dead. Be warned: Ammo costs are sick! Even with premium account ...

Is very hard to use, i have more problems with the lack of use of hull down than with the turret limited turn rate... i test the 430 II and is less hard to use because turret is in a more elevated position and you can use at least some hull down positions... you see less situations where the cover prevent you shoot over enemy and with the strong turret you are practically with same protection like 416 even when enemy can shoot you.

416 is a med hard to use, even the A44 with all his problems is more usable.

I'm thinking people are using free xp to get the big gun because life is a bit hard with the stock gun, I feel harder than on some other tanks in stock mode.

I have a good win ratio on it so far but that must be due to pure luck I think, not had a really good game in it myself and still only at 2nd class medal.

I've sold mine after playing with the O430 on the test server, for me it ain't worth grinding over.

If you fancy playing a medium tanks that is more like a mobile TD with limited turret traverse, this is it. If you fancy playing your medium tank as medium tank tho...

The 416 is a very, very good tank. It's the best of a TD combined with the best of a medium. It's not best played as just a medium, nor as just a TD. It should actively switch between roles.

I did a full review on it, you can find it here.

Just an unicum Toy-Tank for running around and spamming 330mm HEAT at eveything that moves.

Nothing more nothing less

I was wrong...i admit....A44 is NOT the worst tank in this game....it is this epic turd that is useless on all maps except ones with many bushes for hiding, spotting and maybe some sneak sniping.Absolute *hit,i can't belive that someone actually compare this to T44 and claim that it is better then T44.You can't FIRE from 80% locations on this maps except if you have death wish, the amount of ADJUSTING on slightest slope to maybe take a shot on some tank is amazing.Who put these line in wot must be taken for observation.Proper milking of gold for free xp tank.Well done WG. If i have to play this POS can i at list get less El Campuf or any other hilly map?

I'd just like to say that this thing is awesome.

[/URL]

I play it just like I play the A-44 (which I enjoyed a lot too). This tank requires a side-on approach. Taking enemies face on in groups will lead to death. Instead, sniping or flanking tactics should be used. Also focusing on the injured, lone tank is the best route. It is not like any other tier 8 medium and playing it like a T-44/Pershing/Type 59/Panther II etc will lead to death.

The gun is brilliant, normal shells can deal with tier 9 no problem and the HEAT shells will make tier 10's go back into cover.

Things are little better now when more suitable maps showed up....still think it is bad and highly team and map depended.Got last gun and stoped for today.

Just got it and after few games I am really liking it. Like a medium/td hybrid but unlike A-44 you have the gun and camo to back it up.

Don't have the final turret but big gun + ram + binocs + vert. And it is already OP.

I can only imagine what will happen with added HP, bounciness, view range AND increased RoF...

It's not a bad tank, and in terms of firepower is as deadly as the T54, but it requires skill to circumnavigate the tanks more unique features - the turret traverse, exceptionally low profile, poor depression, absent armour.

Certainly not the worst tier 8 I have driven (that honour goes to the T-34-2), and perhaps even better than the T44.

I got this tank today and it's definetly ''special''. It depends if you can adjust to it or not :P

I am missing the best: gun/turret/radio.

I had a bit of free XP and I used it to get the tracks so I could mount: optics/rammer/vstab ( these are the modules I already had in depot).

The stock gun is giving me trouble in T9/10  games. So I was kinda forced to spam gold.  I won't be shooting much gold with the top gun. Armor is weak.

Might bounce something sometimes.

But nothing special really. I often have to expose a lot of the tank to shoot.  I didn't get around much to spot with it. But I think camo would allow for this tank to do it if needed.

For all you Obj 416 doubters out there see Noobmeter stats. Top rated tier 8 med. 55.2% overall win rate a full 1.1% higher than the no 2 tank, T59. Yes the tank's a [edited]to learn but it's clearly doing the business for the few who own it.

Love playing this tank, much more than the A44.

Pros & Cons against the A44

Pros:

-More gun depression

-Feels more agile

-much better gun for tier (higher pen + more accurate)

Cons:

-Gun does less damage for it's tier

-Not as well armoured

Obviously (like anybody on here) this opinion is going to be slanted slightly towards the tank I prefer, obviously the 416. Hope this post helps anyway.

Got the turret and this is now becoming insane. ~70% win rate, WN7 of 2070. Despite playing a lot alone.

I run it with nearly full camo crew, so I am not getting spotted a lot.

The trick is really the combination of high DPM (with high pen, good acc and low aiming time), high speed and maneuverability, high camo and low profile (= bouncy). Drawbacks are:

- limited turret traverse (close combat issue but offset by high DPM and low profile, i.e. there is a chance to kill the enemy while turning on the spot without taking too much damage)

- and no gun depression (offset by high camo and low profile, i.e. the tank can be exposed more than others without being seen)

hi,

i, for one am not doing good so far in this tank. I was doing good in A-44 and liked the play, this tank however is denying me.

I have problem to sidescrape with it, because i got penned even at sidescrape position too much and tracks are not 'eating' dmg, while the A-44 was quite OK at sidescraping.

Well, maybe after getting the new tracks and turret things will get better.

Also the turret half fixed position is making my life hard sometimes, ehh ..

You can't sidescrape with 416, both hull and turret armor are too thin. You need to play it in a completely different style than A-44. Think scout and TD hybrid.
