What cannon is better to put on KV? 107mm or 152mm?

152 is a good gun but it loads ones in a minute, in a high tir you better have that gun. In a normal tir it's better to use the 107. You will never know what the game will look like so it's better to use the 107.

I killed other KV by one shoot from 152mm, and that was from front (but yes at very close distance). Anyway, i was killed few seconds later because other enemy put 3 shoots at me and my gun was still reloading...

107mm is more fun because you can actually fire some times per minute
152mm is one shot, one kill but reloads for a very long time

Try them both out and see what suits you best

I prefer stronger canons. You can do more damage than with weaker canon.
With weaker cannon you have to shoot more times, but you can be destroyed very soon.

I just upgraded from 122 to 107 and the game changed a lot. I am usually playing aggressively since I hate waiting for umphteen minutes in base to see whether enemy is coming. Have to say I love 107 speed and damage. All the games with KV are now more fun than ever. In a game where I was one of the highest tanks I took alone the east road and before arriving to enemy base I left 6 enemy dead on my way. I got killed by arty fire on enemy base but we won, and most of all I had fun. KV+107 is now my favorite tank. Haven't tried 152mm though, as I said I hate waiting and with this one I need to rely on my team. I have also a feeling that with 107 I can get exp even I am one of the bottom tanks.

And 107 is also used with KV-3 (AFAIK) so it is worth to research on KV.

KV with 152mm is for giggles. It is like Tank Destroyer with a turret.

I definitely prefer the 152mm. Gotten chewed out a lot for using it by other players in game, one time while I was racking up 9 kills :) 9 kills, and they're still complaining. But haters gonna hate, i love my 152mm.

If they can't handle the 152mm in tier 5, then they're going to absolutely despise tier 6 and above!

Get the 107mm. It's an awesome gun and can be used on both the KV and KV-3, while any xp spent on the 152 is useless once you get the KV-3.

The 107 is the most effective in T7 and under battles, the 152 is made of fun especially when you are in a platoon of 3 KV 152 :D 36% per shell in a ferdi front ?

152 with HE, however dont miss!. Also when you have the oportunity put a HE shell in the back of an IS and be pleasantly surprised :) (or tiger 2 turret for even more rage) ;)

You're going to need to 107 for the KV-3, but the 152 is just pure genius. Trust me, there's simply no other tank that evokes such a feeling of awesome as the 152 armed KV. The KV-3 felt like a real downgrade coming from the KV-2; the 107 and 122 are good guns, but they're not a 152.

If you can handle the long load time, then get this gun. It's well worth the XP, and will have you coming back for more time and time again.

What's the fastest time you can get the reload on the 152mm down to? With rammer + Vent. + Skills? I'm having good time with 152mm atm. Would like to work on getting reload and accuracy improved though.  :Smile_honoring:

I would say, that it really depends on your own personal play stile. Surely you should use the 107 if you like sniping and keeping distance. Use the 152 if you enjoy maps like Ensk, where you pop out from behind the corner, shoot, and pop back in.

Remember, that using the Derpgun on maps like Malinovka is pure headache and as a general rule of thumb, for best results with the derp, you need a rammer, a stabilizer and a 100% crew plus a ventilator.

My personal eqperience with the derp gun is only to use it when you are in a platoon, where another tank can switch positions with you once you are reloading. Ideally you can also go with three DerpVs in the platoon, thus increasing the chance of a good overall reload.

However, I think, that the overall damage per second is higher with the 107, but as much as we tested in training battles, a hit from the 152 will take out at least one module. Tiger IIs are fond of having their whole crew slaughtered, when hit on the back of their turrets and, obviously, a shot to the rear of the turret for a T44 is an instakill via ammo rack...

Funnily enough despite this whole debate about the 107 vs the 152 here. On the KV i kind of preferred to have the old turret with the long 76mm. In the end it cuts down your silhouette massively, You'll just penetrate as much and when you don't you can just have a load of HE shells at your disposal - which you'd be using with the 152 anyway. The turret also is almost twice as fast in rotating so you're far less likely to get outflanked when you do decide to get close on someone, or someone on you, and you can effectively track them and then shoot them.

In the end it is all personal prefrence yes. I have used both the 107 and 152 and i noticed that for some mysterious reason the 107 was still having trouble penetrating, even other KV-2's, which in the end is what you'd get the 107 for is to have that 167mm of penetration power it gets. Though i still found that 7 rounds per minute is extremely slow and that coupled with the fact you can still bounce it all too frequently it's not such an effective weapon. Likewise the 152 has a whopping 2,7 rounds per minute, put against that you may not have the calibre rammer and ventilation that easily goes down to around 2,2 to 2,5 which is like less than 1 shot every 20 seconds. Surely when you do get a shot off it's absolutely devastating, and extremely statisfying when you actually manige to get a hit at long range fighting in high-tier'd battles, but the silhouette is a sin in itself and makes you a big target -- There is no structure big enough to hide behind without exposing yourself in most maps.

I tested KV quite a lot. I think i have exp. with WOT (3000+ battles). I first compared 152mm with better turret and 122mm with basic turret.

152mm is fun oneshot derp killer gun :), BUT! you will maybe start hate it soon because of speed (reloading, turret rotation, aiming...) and because of bad accuracy :(. Fast tanks can circle and shoot around your KV and you can only look at them (must stop them before they get close, or move somewhere where they cant circle around you).

122mm has power too, it can punch enemy (especialy if KV is usually placed as a top tank in battles) and as a bonus it is much faster to reload and rotate basic turret. KV is more usefull with it.

BUT! than i unlocked 107mm, and this gun wins for sure :) Its is unbelievable for tier 5 tank (i even used it whole time in KV3 when i was grinding to IS !). You can really annoy (even kill easy if they expose their sides and other weak parts) IS3, Tiger II and other higher tier tanks with this gun.

I can definitely suggest this: GO for KV :) best gun is 107mm, must try 152mm, and for beggining with KV use 122mm with old turret :)
