Just found this little tidbit: http://www.firstshow...y-from-twitter/

Looks interesting so far and they are only 2 weeks into the shooting of the movie.

So what do you think, will it be any good?

I does look good. Let's just hope they don't take a Panther and call it a Tiger ; but hey, Hollywood has come a long way since the incredible stupidity that was these infamous post-war films.

What would be inaccurate about that?  The American's did pretty much win the war by themselves.  Sure, they had "allies", but that's like saying the supporters at Barca games play an integral part in what Messi and his teammates do.

Well, typically everyone forgets about the Brits, Canadians, French, Commonwealth Troops, Displaced European armed forces (like the polish).

If they were alone, do remember that they were at war on two fronts...

Perhaps that about 80% of the losses the German army suffered were on the eastern front?

Back to school I'm afraid.

Without the Russians us Europeans would be in a very different place   http://en.wikipedia....r_II_casualties
They SACRIFICED over 25% of their population to win. You think the Muricans would have done that ?

This is why I don't like all the anti Russian BS on here. No, the regime wasn't perfect but they did what they had to do. If it hadn't been for them.........

Do you know who many films go into principle photograph but never get released? A shed load. This film could/may never see the light of day. I am not saying it will not be released. But there has never been a big box office film about tanks. Look it up if you don't trust what I am saying. The bast you will get is Patton and that was a big hit despite having the wrong tanks and a very loss script. The other was Battle of the Bulge. Again wrong tanks and and a week story line. It at lest had lots of good acting. Rather than relying on one or two good actors to carry the thing like Patton did.

My point is that this type of film dose not have a long history of success. War films are the default answer to "what do we do next?" question in the film industry. Costumes are a on brainier. So is setting, back story and just so mush more that doesn't need any thinking about. Very few get picked up. Even fewer get to principle photograph. Even less come out the cutting room in a condition worth seeing. Or come out of the cutting room at all. And almost none are big money makers. So if a big film flops this is the type of film that will get shelved or canceled to balance the books. And as we all know the film industry is not very healthy at the moment. Lots of costly films failing to get bums on seats.

We all think because of films like Saving Privet nobody and Ban of Brother we made it look like the yanks won WW2 by themselves again. Had such success that war films are popular. Well look the these two films they are principally about personal relationships. That's why they are successful works of the film art. The war setting is just that a setting. So if this film is one and a half hours of war stuff. Its a fail. The tank thing is going to need to be just the setting not the principal point. Don't think that's going to happen with this thing. Its going to be a shoot them up special affects CGI hoopla flash in the pan flop.

Seeing as this one stars Brad Pitt, they'd have a huge wage bill to settle.  So yeah, it's going to be released.

Whatever happened to Panzer 88 tho? Can't open IMDB at work, but here's a linky : www.imdb.com/title/tt1596576/‎

Brad Pitt in a tank movie? He's way too ugly to act as a tank crewman.

Note: Because this project is categorized as in development, the data is only available on IMDbPro and is subject to change.

And yes, if they got Brad Pitt to play in the movie, they're going to release it no matter what.

I did some digging on Panzer 88 and found an interview with the director from 2010 where he tells that since the movie is filmed in New Zealand's Stonestreet studios and in co-operation with Weta Workshop (who have been doing the Hobbit-movies these past years) they have been delayed a lot. I'd imagine that the Hobbit-trilogy with hundreds of millions of dollars and a huge hype behind them is going to be the priority over a small-scale $30 million budget supernatural horror flick. Shame, really, the concept behind Panzer 88 sounds promising and would be an interesting movie to see finished.
