Hi everyone,
Today is stumbled upon this picture on the english Russia website:
northernfleetmuseum005-15.jpg
This is taken from a technical museum on the Kola peninsular of Russia. It seems that to get there you need some sort of permit or an invitation from someone who lives there.
I have recognized the turrets and initially i thought "meh, just some KV-s and some t̶-̶3̶4̶-̶8̶5̶-s IS", but at a closer look, i noticed that those KV turrets are mounted on anything else but some KV chassis.
My question is, were there actually working machines that were configured that way, or those turrets are simply dropped on those T̶-̶3̶4̶ IS(?) chassis? I did a google search for "KV turret on T̶-̶3̶4̶  IS chassis" but didn't found anything useful
Any pertinent comment on this matter will be welcome, as I am damn curious about it :)
BTW this is the link to the actual article:
http://englishrussia...northern-fleet/
Cheers!
Edited, those were actually IS chasies :)

Not an expert but I believe those hulls belong to the IS-2, not the T-34.

This guy is doing a review of the KV-2 and doesn't even realise that the hull is taken from an IS-2, thought that might be relevant since there is some actual moving action in the vid rather than just pictures.

The hulls are IS-2 hulls.

It seems someone has bought some IS-2 spare parts in bulk and decided to make replicas.
They are slightly off.

But to answer your question such tanks were not produced.

crowley74 is right in stating that they may well have been prepared for making a film or similar.
If you look at the portion of this video filmed inside the turret, it appears empty. No gun breach or other associated equipment.  Plus the turret looks like a well made mock-up/replica (from the outside), as the inside appears to be made up of relatively light panels. It may be that the video explains this, but alas I don't speak Russian.

They are all late production IS2 model 1944 hulls. The early IS2 hull had the stepped front, which had a tendancy to fracture at the weld seems when hit by large, but non-penetrating rounds, so was replaced by the single piece sloped glacis.  This video is a nice look at a late IS2 model 1944

might be just a mockup of tanks! could be something recent for a collector!

he had some is 2 hulls with no turrets and some kv turrets so he decided to mount them on!

Heck it even seems that the two outermost IS-2's were modified to look like T-34-85 :D

I'm rather surprised if they have more IS-2s left in running condition than T-34s (any kind). Though proably makes things simpler, since T-34-85 isn't likely to accept KV-2 turret.

It may be also just that the IS-2's were on sale when given collector/museum wanted to buy tanks and not T-34's...

Somehow I find the concept of "tank sale" slightly amusing.
