Hi fellow Tankers,

I have a question,

I recently had a battle in my ELC, as usual when the battle started, of I went to do a bit of scouting... Not suicide, but a specific area, when I found the enemy, I headed back to my Lines, and set up as a TD in a nice bush in the rear... so far so good....Killing one enemy heavy... spotting two rear flankers....

Suddenly a three platoon (the names I will not mention) started complaining about the ELC not scouting....

The arty in the platoon decided to Team Kill me....

What do you guys think, I think not very many people know how an ELC can do two to three jobs in the same game and not only scout.

Let me know about this.

Cheers

it doesnt matter what you do if you are playing heavy or light(scout)

every game some wannebe-pro try to tell you what to do.

play med/td/arty or just ignore them :)

I tend to find I do well using elc as a scout early on, td in the middle then hunter at the end picking off low HP tanks at close range.

Just wait for them to use elc as full on scout, it is hard to do in it and they will probably fail.

> enemy probably behind corner
> masterfull angling mode engaged
> shoot from behind by a friendly derp pz4

To sum up, no mether what you do/play, there will be potatoe players on both sides.

Have had one of those teams yesterday   They said how rare it was to have a good elc driver supporting them. This was in encounter on Malinkova. I started in the north side so I went about cruising around the top of the hill, detected 4 then moved back for the heavies to engage. I went off to do TD to cover the base with a couple of heavies with me. The heavies discussed a plan of action to deal with the 4-5 opposition on the other side. They decided to send me out to scout them out and distract them while my team had chance to move over the field.
From there I spent the rest of the battle irritating the enemy by circling, tracking then running away from them which completely distracted them from shooting at my team.

Yeah...

To go back to ELC, I too sometimes use mine as a TD, but only if there are enemies that are still and already engaged in combat, since the aiming time is so bad you basically have to be there like a sitting duck for 4 seconds to actually shoot once.

Ignore them. I got my ace tanker on ELC by doing exactly that on Sverogorsk. Starting south I raced up the hill on the right, looped around the enemy path up there spotting a few, then sat in the TD perfect spot (even better for ELC because it's so low) and shot across, getting tons of spotting damage at the same time because you can see that far with bino's :D

They're just annoyed that they were too useless to shoot what you had already spotted

If you want to play scout, play scout.

Just ignore idiots when you see them.

Yap, I think you play it right.  My best ELC games are those where the team works together trying to take out enemies - active scout at the beginning, the heavy go to engage while ELC do damages while the enemies are busy and then finally ELC goes take out the enemy arties.

The worst games are those with 'wannabe commanders' who are desperate to find something to shoot (and pushed ELC to splot), and when there is nothing else to shoot, team kill/damage.

Even in T8/9, still initial scout and then support the heavies in sniper mode. Binocular / coated optic helps. The top ELC gun will damage even the T8/9.

The ELC although a scout is not the best at that role, it has poor view range but is fast hard to hit and good camo value. I liked to play it as an active scout on maps that allow that and as a mugger on most maps or later on. Being asked to scout a specific area is fine, up to the scout if he does it. BUT he should respond to requests, not going cos that TD at H5 will kill me for example. Scouts are only helpful if alive so doing something that will get you killed is always a bad idea.
