I am all for a bit of banter and harmless jokes however this community contains some real cretins.

In all my years gaming I have never come across such a foul mouthed, crass, uneducated and downright disrespectfull community.

every other battle is filled with name calling, swearing, abuse and raging juveniles ( im applying that term to adults too)

Nothing that can be done about it... other than to use a mod to turn chat off. anyone have a link?

It's just the nature of the beast I'm afraid, the internet does function as something of a git magnifier. Even these forums are quite bad sometimes.

Just get a sheet from a sticky note pad, cut it to desired size, and stick it over the chat box when you want to ignore. Better than removing it altogether, as you may want to use it now and then.

Get a small picture of a cute kitten and stick it over the chat box, or a picture of a tomato.

The abuse is inherent to this kind of game. It's everywhere, in all F2Ps I play.
Try to ignore it, if you wan't, disable chat. I'd enjoy a mod that replaces all chosen words by "herpy derp", much like there is a plug-in to replace YT comments by the same thing.

No need to disable chat just use this chat filter ... works well and is customisable to remove many words and phrases you do not want to see.

That`s because this game is one of the most annoying multiplayer games ever. RNG on everything except silver rewards, random reddie teams and tiny maps all contribute to an enormous amount of rage that then bubbles out.

Whilst I agree with Mr Rimmer that abuse exists, when you consider the actual medium itself - total freedom to say what you want and nil chance of getting a Knuckle Sarney, its quite amazing how little abuse there is out there.
I tend not to take much notice of the chat and mainly keep an eye on the mini-map, but once in a while a couple of teammates will start fighting amongst themselves and draw my gaze to the chat and as long as you are not worried about the battle result, it can get quite funny.

Personally getting pretty hacked off with the abuse. The vast majority of our community are respectful, good humoured and a pleasure to win or die with, no question. To be subjected to a barrarge of abuse from some muppet is just not acceptable - I don't care if it's the norm for online play, it should not need be tolerated.
Yes, we all get frustrated with teammates but we all have good games and we all have bad games, simple as that....

Covering the chat box is a neat solution but not really practical for me -  I WANT to converse with my fellow tankers, like I said the majority are respectful gamers.

Surely the worst/persistent offenders should be made an example of and be banned/deleted. Does this actually happen? If not then why not.

Does the in-game reporting system actually do anything or is it purely there as a placebo?
