From For the Record:  http://ftr.wot-news.com/2013/12/14/veider-answers-on-stream/#more-6433

"- there will be LT changes in order to make LT’s more “action-oriented”, but not very soon. Developers do have a lot of plans in mind though. Developers want to make the LT class “self-sufficient”. They identify the LT problems as low vitality (survivability) and slow moving across the map because of the physics"

Great to hear, but "but not very soon" bothers me.  We have been suffering this obvious problem for months now!

(by the way - where is that RU-251 we were promised a year ago when the 28.01 got mega-nerfed?)

I'd hate to see WoT turning from rock, paper, scissors to rock, rock and ROCK -game.

Scouts still offer some special approach to gameplay .. specially when applied with good crew and map knowledge. Dropping the special MM and making all lights more like AMX -series brawlers would make scouting lights just armorless mediums.

I honestly hope that future patches still offer colorful use for each class instead of bowing to the will of not-that-dedicated customers and their lack of game mechanics knowledge.

Let the easy and brainless games stay on console side.

More action oriented? Bring back arty and less world of tank destroyers camping.

You don't know better with the number of battles you have, so let me enlighten you:

Gameplay was a hundred times worse and more campy with all the arty than it is now.

It went totally campy with the new German td line.

I'm afraid it will mean mega-nerf on every scouts to give them lower battle tiers. A buff in the fact that you lower the battle tier. A nerf because of view range decrease, alpha, dpm, etc.

They don't need to nerf the scouts that much. A small change like removing top turret (with top gun) from chafee and give all scouts +3 MM would be a pretty fruit to pick. Scouts could be much more aggressive.

I'll be waiting to see what they comes up with.

(120k xp on auf panther is waiting for ru-251 here).

Well, light tanks could indeed have a role VS TDs as well, they would need a moderate rebalance to fit more in that style though.

Only for low skill players.

You gotta cater to average and low skill players as they make the majority of the game, to keep this thing afloat the aim is to piss off the least people as possible when making changes.

i find it humorous they attribute scouts moving slowly across the map to physics.  Scouts move slowly across the map because Wargaming has limited their top speeds.

Simple fix to scouting:

1.  Give Scouts the fastest top speeds for the tiers they play against.

2.  Other tanks move at least 7 km/h slower than the Scouts.

3. Return environmental camo to the way it used to be.

4. Stop giving certain Mediums and most TDs preferential camo values.

End of problems.

Are you trying to call me low skilled? And have you ever played on EU? It's generally way more campy than NA.

Some improvements would be great! I also wonder if the problem is amplified by the prevalence of smaller "bottle neck" maps?

I know not every map can be a Malinovka, and yes I need to be a better player, but it does feel like a lot of maps restrict your mobility and options as a Light tank driver.

The maps are one part of the problem. They are heavies oriented. I couldn't see anything wrong with swamp map, yet they reworked it. New is also good BTW.

But other semi-new maps are crap. Like pearl river, or komarin. On pearl river there are not much ways to go, and one half of a map is not designed for scouting. The other half is better but not much. Komarin, good for camping, leave cover = insta-spot and death.

Right now scouting is boring and not effective. There are mediums doing it as good as scouts, still being able to survive more than one shot from TD, I like scouting even in E50M, T 54, and Obj. 140 are one of the best for that...  Even Aukl. Panther can be often oneshotted by many high tier TDs, think about T95, Objects,  Jagdpanzer E 100, Fochs will cripple you badly... And if you add a flow of TDs in game... More than 15 in battle is not a rarity.

A year ago playing VK 28 was fun. Descouting, spotting, killing arties, harassing slow TDs. Right now I struggle in Aufkl. Panther. I think I will sell it and put the crew to Pz III/IV... Just after I gather 130k exp for new tank. Maybe we will see RU in 2014, maybe not...

Yet, they cater almost exclusively to the stat whores from the big name clans.  Anything which prevents them from piling up huge damage totals is nerfed or eliminated.  They cry about arty?  Nerfed.   They cry about Scouts and invisitanks?  Camo is nerfed and Active scouts are made archaic.   Map after map is made less scout-friendly in updates.  Wargaming is seriously degrading the game for the sake of the few.

Heavies have their own share of problems, the problem is that WG forgot how the holy tank trinity (firepower/protection/mobility) works and is making tanks that are way too imbalanced towards one factor, forgetting the others or over-penalizing them.

That's my opinion of it as well. Why bother with a light tank when you have advantage over anything else on the map? You may as well be in a medium which is just as quick and can take a hit or two. Camo has been shredded so there's no advantage there either. I like the Luchs but struggle with it and I often think is there an equivalent Medium that I can at least take a hit with?

For me if they want to encourage and reward scouting as the points system suggests then there should be tanks specifically designed for it. They should be quicker, more agile and have a greater view range or at least the ability to get a greater view range. Why not have LT specific optics that ensure the view range is better than anything else? It seems right that a LT should be out gunned against higher tier Mediums and Heavies although being able to do some damage is also right.

Next question will be what is the point of a Medium?

Luch elite turm is unhistorical, the upgrade one was open top, so much better view range...

Sorry, I don't see your point.

In terms of the game what is the point of a light tier 4 tank in a tier 8 game when all of the opposition can see you before you spot them? You cant damage them so you're a spotter (fair enough) than can be killed with one shot (again fair enough). But not having any ability to play your role is a little frustrating.

I understand you need to be at a good level to excel in a game where you are 4 tiers below but I still think you should be given half a chance with some better camo and view range.

Question. Would the camo reach an advantageous level if it were at 100% as a skill / perk? If so that would make sense to me 3-4 tiers down
