Cool! A camouflaged FT-17 light tank!

Wait...

Who would paint his tier 1 one tank with expensive paint?

No offence, but, is it me or are the french the only people capable of painting a target on their tanks? I remember them painting the ace of spades on their tanks or even hearts, which IMO would have been more apropriate, but this? Seriously, this is just asking to be trolled!

only the french?

those roundels have their origin in the early days of aerial warfare in WWI, when the first pilots used to challenge their enemies by painting provocative emblems on their aircrafts. One can think about the famous "red baron", who, when he learnt he was wanted by the allied, made it easier for them and painted his plane in bright red.
The ancestor of the french air force, the french air service (which was part of the french army, and not an independant army as it is now) adopted a roundel to the french colors partly to mock their oponents. "Shoot me if you can!"

It was later on copied over by most if not all allied countries : UK and its dominions, US, etc...

A cockade, not a target.  ;)

Originally they were used on tanks for aerial identification (often on the commander cupola) otherwise the identification was made by a french flag near the serial number (as on this S35) and/or the vehicle's name (on the turret).
But more and more the tricolore cockade made its apparition during 1940. I don't know the precise reason for this choice but I recall that in some case it was to avoid friendly fire, for example in the case of the 4th DCR who lost two B1 Bis the same day by Somua S35s of the 3rd Cuirassiers (on a sidenote few hours after this incident, one of the S35 tank commander, consumed by remorse, killed himself).

Signification of the aces (and their colors):

Blue - 1st company Black or White - 2nd company Red - 3rd company

Ace of Spades - 1st section
Ace of Hearts - 2nd section
Ace of Diamonds - 3rd section
Ace of Club - Reserve section (not too sure on how to translate it, it was basically the replacement pool of each company, Section d'échelon in French)

Edit: Too slow, Waroch was here.  :Smile-hiding:

Nice! I always tought the cockade was used only by the airforce, so when I saw them on a tank I was like WTF! I`m still going to shoot them just for shits and giggles :P

Some feedback on the FT17.
For replays, you need 0.7.0 client, simply open the .wotreplay file with the client in command line: "WorldOfTanks.exe replay.wotreplay"
I have played 2 matches with it:
First one, with STOCK tank, on Hills. Tank is SLOW, reaches 16 km/h on average, depending on terrain. Can't hit the broad side of a barn from 50m, so you need to get close. I got myself one kill. Replay here.
Second one, with ELITE tank (crew at 52%), on Himmelsdorf; I hoped the tank would have been faster so I took the hill; sadly, it took forever to get across, but paid off in the end; 3 kills and a nice victory. Replay here.

Thing is, the server is so full of French light tanks that I couldn't really see how it fares against MS-1 (there was no MS-1 in sight).

Autoloader on the 13mm with 15 shoots each drum.
thats 120 dmg in less than half a second befor you have to reload for ~ 6 sec if you land in a T1 Battle where you can pen everything. :D

Well, two battles in it- not much of a test i know- with all upgrades, 100 crew and vents.

9 kills over the two battles! First impressions are that its a good little tier one, speed, armour and gun are all definitely ok- no serious weakness really.

Quite good fun.

You spent to put a 100 crew on it and vents - why - lol.

I had one game it in it (stock), parked in the right place, got several kills and with double for first win enough xp to elite it and move on to tier 2?
