ThIs mod is still in development.

Revising my old work.

With the 9.0 out and lots of changes to the lighting i am able to redo all my work from scratch and make a better job of it.

During early development you will have access to test files, these will be near finished files ready for testing, bug reports are always welcome along with feedback and your thoughts.

The aim of this mod is to not upgrade the textures to high resolution, but to have a different experience in visual design.

Most of you will have played this game over a thousand times and even though there are changes on each patch wargaming releases, it is nice to have something a little different.

My goal is to offer a set of textures to change how the overall appearance of the landscapes look and feel during play, while maintaining some of it's originality.

Interesting. Is it going to be one big mod overhauling all graphics or will you split it into categories like environment, houses, objects?

I think the game offers passable vanilla graphics except cliff walls, rocks and stones. These are so low res it's a pixel galore. Any screenies with these compared to originals?

the rocks are good in pixels it is because they are stretched over a wide area of rock that the textures lose detail and blur out. remaking them would require 2048 x 2048 or higher and that would drop FPS so im not sure what i will be doing with the rocks.... as for the environment im not doing them because wot updates regular and messes with all sort and i have to then redo some of my work.. i want to keep my wot workload small so i can play the game too and mod other games that i am working on... but the grass and stuff covers a wide area you kind of need it to look good...

There are a lot of shared textures and normals so i have done the best i can... wish each texture had it's own normal map...my mission was to take out the plastic looking grass andd make improvements to some textures... drax is back so im hoping his environment and tanks ect matches with this...

Oh, I see. The rocky part was the one I was looking forward to the most ... but oh well. Maybe just blur it into oblivion so at least the pixels wont show :P

I like the before-after pics. Shows much better the overall improvement.

Also, apart from grass many maps have sort of crop fields that don't look very well. Since it's regular ground texture I'm hoping you'll be able to enhance these :)

Edit: So how will the mod look like file-wise? Is it similar to tank skins at all? Like, folder with custom textures dropped into res_mods?

Im doing the rocks  but its going to be seperate with an FPS drop warning optional download.. the crops are that bad im having to increase the size of some to get detail that does not blur. i will add a seperate link to the crops as it may cause some FPS drop not much though. well only had to increase a few textures and hardly noticed a drop at all... depends on your hardware though.

The file will be extracted textures placed in the mods folder so you can easily drag and drop them out of the zip into your res mods....

Working on the crops. some will have a wet look like this one.. but im not as skilled as i want to be in photoshop so creating crops has been a struggle..

Images removed will keep new image updates at the top.

Maybe forget the crops and just put ploughed soil instead? Or more grass :)

Regarding rocks, if you could make it map specific you could put higher res ones in desert maps only, and all of these have loads of them ugly textures. There's not much stuff on them otherwise: no vegetation nor too many objects so maybe fps drop wouldn't be an issue.

I'll make a normal resolution download for sand that i inccreased from 1024 x 1024 to 2048 x 2048. same with the crops and rocks but i will add the high res in the main pack then if anyone stutters they can patch to normal resolution and lose some detail.

here is the sand at sandriver at full resolution and i could do the same with rocks and crops too.. And all other things that need more detail.

Moved images to earlier post to make things look neat.

I'd like to download this mod, but I can't register on Nexus, because it always says me that I'm not allowed to register this account with this community.

*Edit*

Finally I've register on nexus and I can download this mod :)

Yaaaay i was thinking about an alternative download but its hard worrk as the file  gets bigger you have to split them. my last mod was in 5 parts. nexus can upload huge files and upload in game screen shots without me having to upload to imageshack or facebook before posting on a wall...

If anyone is suffering some lag on certain maps it is  because i hadd to increase some textures to 2048 x 2048 pixels, one up from the standard 1024 x 1024.

Once a few unhappy gamers show up i will release a lower set as an optional download with no FPS loss but at the cost of things like the grain in the sand etc.

Now your registered with nexus may i point out they have a copious amount of game support.with all sorts of mods for various games.

If you have skyrim they have a huge library of mods. When i say huge i mean huge :P

Update Now available.

Go over to nexus (link in the description) new screenshots added on nexus and what you see in the new screenshots is what you get in the update.

Those that don't have the mod needs to download  the main file before the update.

Fully compatible with the 8.11 test server.

This mod might have a small or big hit on performance depending on what your system can handle.

But good news, there will be vanilla sized textures coming to this mod soon, i will downscale them to the original size and upload for weaker systems.

yup i have seen the same thing and facepalmed myself :) good news, i know whats causing each issue the shiney texture is a fault in my textures alpha channel... and the flickering is caused by a few textures saved without mip maps for some strange reason i found the mip map problem re saved and it did it again so so it might hold some WG map DX3 data inside when saving as DX5 i know how fix it.. I will get another update up later fixing these small bugs plus turning some more vanilla sized textures high res textures...... for now i'll add them to the bugs list, thank you for testing.

Westfield also has shiney bug grass but only in parts, it must use the same texture as fishingbay

Update 3 Now Available

Again not all textures are final.. tried to fix the flickering texture bug but if you do notice another let me know, (so far the test was good on this)

Fixed the shiney glossy grass on some areas on some maps.

God knows what that line is on hills... will look into it.. probably 2 normals overlapping.

Most textures are now 2048 x 2048 and may cause lag, turning your texture quality to high should degrade them close to vanilla size.

Some textures i am not 100% happy with so things might change in future updates, i'll not rest till iim happy with it.

If any parts look bad or wrong, i already am aware of them and i am working hard on trying to get things looking good.
