some mipmaps seem to be not saving with the DDS for some reason... fixed a lot of it but i have not yet had the chance to try all the maps with my mods since the new 0.8.11 requires me to record each map in replay all over again... when i see it i will fix it seem 2 or 3 already that i fixed... one on mines.. no idea why sometimes it fails to save the mipmaps on some textures.. without mipmaps the texture will not blur at a distance and therfor crushes the pixels into a super small fuzz bomb that shimmers with camera rotation...

@Shockz :

I have sorted out these Files, that make blurry or flimmering Textures.

  1. Forest_Ground_N_3.dds -- Map 07
  2. Grass_dead_El.dds  -- Map29
  3. Grass_dead_El_NM.dds -- Map29
  4. moss_2.dds - Map60

I have these files deleted and the flimmering is gone.  If i find more i Post it here

This mod only modifies the in game  FOV so you don't get stretches or warps that i noticed after 0.8.11 patch.... most people that will use it probably won't notice any difference at all.

It is only  1 file that can be removed if anyone does not like it... worth a test for anyone curious. :)

Edit wow thank you so much Adams now i can fix this issue without having to search for them.. wow i won't be too long with a patch... :)

those textures are kind of being changed to  something different anyway so i can do that tomorrow when i have finished job searching. lol

Regarding fov file, yes, I am using that to adjust my fov, and as I said I have variables set to 120 / 70 as it works the best for me. I haven't even played 8.11 with it's vanilla fov to be honest lol :P

aaah i get what your saying now you already have your fov manually altered... cool. i have 80 180 80... will try yours out they might be a better im using 16.10 AR but i was using 4.3 before on a widescreen because the 16.9 and 16.10 looked squashed.. lol.decided to hunt down the fov file  and give it some hardcore tweaking. :)

With 1920x1080 (my screen's native res) and 120/180/70 there is a slight fish eye effect but the distortion is very subtle and the fov gain is well worth it. Also, what does the middle value, the 180, stands for?

its the distort value.. you have vertical and horizontal.. they should be the same value to avoid a stretch in one direction like a fish eye. too little and you get a zoom effect and too much you get a push effect that pushed the land out. the middle one seems to distort objects on rotation in the same way used in 3D technology to give the appearance of a 3D environment... the effects should be that subtle that you don't know it is there but would  definitely know if it isn't there.

Example... if you focus on a table in your living room then move your head left and right you will notice behind the table everything moves and bends, objects go behind object because your in 3D space and time where light bends. same principle here i think... it gives out some realism to a 3D scene. but instead of bending light i think it uses angles and distortion to pull this off.

When i first altered the fov i started the game feeling like i was on a bad acid trip. :)

The game designers would probably laugh at my answer. but i don't know the professional terms for it i just see how it works from playing with it and doing things in real life to imitate real life feeling using it.

Well, cheers anyway for the explanation. I knew about the first and the third values but had no clue about the mid one. I'll better leave the mid value alone then :)

Does it drop the FPS btw?

I mean at the current normal game textures I get 30 to 40 FPS on standard graphics and 17 to 20 FPS on improved..(Sh**ty PC) would it work fine?

Thanks.

When you will make them, could you do separate pack? Downloading 800 MB+ is kinda hard for me.

im doing a small texture pack but only when it is finished.... so lower pc's should be able to run this if you get lag with the current version.

sadly i cannot do a smaller download... too much work... i downloaded the file myself to see if the download was working, and the zip  file didn't download broken like it did on another game i  modded....

You just hit download and go for a coffee lol :P Come back and a massive 3% will be done :P my jokes get worse :)

Fixed some bad maps after 2 days in photoshop i figured it was not the textures that was bad it was the lighting that did not agree with normal mapping...

Results:

Cliff Shots

Cliff without flora

Abbey Shots

PS.: in german Forum ,, Kriegstreiber '' make a Mod with real Engine Exhaust Smoke and a Sound Mod with Noises for Traverse Degress (?!? in german TurmDrehung)

the Engine Exhaust Smode Mod is a very great addition for your Mod. You can Download it herewith the Traverse Sounds in one File.

Please have a look on it, there are also new Effects for Shooting (HiRes Grafik Effect), Damage and Tracks. Please Test this.

Been playing with the smoke mod and i must admit i do like it over the originals, the sound from inside the scope is awesome... it will interfere with the lighting i have done and may look a little too strong so will have to release 2 lighting mods.. one that is compatible with this mod and one that is compatible with the original... too much visibility on the smoke and it becomes a visual nightmare..

Updated Textures Now Downloadable

Will have some lighting files on there by the end of tonight too...

Again they may be some flicker bug in parts, Before testing and to insure the mod runs smoothly please delete my old textures before installing the new ones and get back to me with any bugs you find. I deleted a few textures thaat flickered so if you still have my old mod files in there you will get those old textures flickering.

I will be doing all the mountain and landscape textures so please stay tuned for more updates...
