Hi all,

I,m a collector of trench art and this plaque came as part of a recent auction lot. I can find no relevant information on the 3./ Panzergrenadierbattaillon 182 (any help with this would be wonderful) but I believe it is/was post war. If the tank can be identified then I will at least know its earliest possible age, but its possible that it is just a representation of a stylised tank. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. The faded writing underneath just says "with best wishes and thanks for your hospitality".

It's a IFV (german: Schützenpanzer) Marder. According to Wikipedia, the 3./ Panzergrenadierbattaillon 182 was closed in 2006. It was part of the german Bundeswehr till then.

Thank you for your time. So it seems it was made sometime betrween 1971 and 2006. Even though its not too old its an extremely well carved piece.
