The Soviet soldier had a pretty realistic view of the military worth of the equipment issued to them:

* Fighter LaGG-3 "Lakirovanny Garantirovnyi Grub" (Laquered guaranteed coffin)

* Leand-Lease US Tank M3 Grant - "A Coffin for Seven Brothers"

The only good thing I can say about Sovietsky Sojuz is that IT IS NO MORE. Don't think anybody who lived under their shadow can say anything better.

Sorry, but for the rocket propeled aircraft it's a german one, a Heinkel HE112 (just a classic aircraft with a rocket mounted in the back). But for a pure rocket propeled plane it's the Heinkel HE111.

For the scramjet tech it's seems to be USA with the recent X-43 who are the first.

For the topic the only thing good about CCCP is their talent to produce standardized objects in mass production.

They won the war in pretty efficient, but brutal, manner
IF it wasnt for their bravery, stoicism, and military might, we might have not been born today.

Then again if not for the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact, Hitler might have thought twice about starting a war in the first place.

Researchers before the 1991 dissolution of the Soviet Union attempting to count the number of people killed under Stalin's regime produced estimates ranging from 3 to 60 million...
read about it...http://en.wikipedia....mber_of_victims

lmao @ lacquered guaranteed coffin

I love the dark soldiers' humour when they get stuck with a horrible piece of equipment.

What about hitler and the holocaust?
The tankist and soldiers did know nothing of the both regimes.

Vodka is the enemy of the people and therefore it must be consumed.

You do have to like the Soviet soldiers' dry sense of humour. Apparently when they opened cans of food sent to them as part of USA's Lend-Lease program, they would joke they were "opening the second front" (that was before the landings in Italy and Normany, of course).

And come to think of it, there are a few additional good things I can say about the CCCP:

1. Free vacations! Some of my grandparents received extended, free vacations in the rolling, endless woods of Siberia. Of course, transportation there was free, in luxurious cattle-wagons.

2. A lucky few of them even got free real-estate. Unfortunately it was below ground level and rather confined.

3. The dear CCCP gave us the wonderful gift of communism, and we got stuck with it for 50 years.

Don't you just love them?

What a coincidence my country-men and women had the same vacation!
