Hey guys,

I've been away for some time, as some of you may have realized by now. But now that I've returned somewhat to WoT, I find it rather amusing to see quite a lot of things have changed. Lately I've been wandering the forums looking for meaningful threads. However, after finding only clan/YouTube ads or whine threads I gave up and decided I would start my own. So I thought I'd start a rather nostalgic thread for those of the guys who are a bit more old-timers here than others.

I recall a time when WoT defies gravity... when trying your hardest to push that scout down the hill on Mines was an impossible endeavour. I also remember the time when WoT was simpler, when your enemy was either using only AP or HE shells and none of that APCR crap (god I hate gold rounds...). Lastly, I remember a time when DougHole was making his quiz threads on the forums... when we joked and laughed and didn't think about the future (... of WoT).

Perhaps you guys can think of some defining moments of WoT in the past? And maybe recall them for the rest of us? This is a very relaxed thread so I don't think going into heavy discussion is really needed  Who knows? Maybe if this forum still has good people, I may do another gold contest sometime for the fun :teethhappy:

P.S: Oh yes... and I also remember a time when this was heavily in-trend (not that I necessarily support its implications)...

Welcome back Ding!

I remember one of your help threads back when I was a bit of a noob, good times.

Anyhow one of the things that have risen is the number of MM whine threads and posts. People are just way to ungrateful for the new and improved +-2 MM. I still remember playing my little SU-5 versus Maus tanks and T30's, or how about when your mighty tier 3 tanks got put up versus a KV-5:ohmy: The horror still haunts me...

But still I think WoT is pushing in the right direction. Nostalgia is nice though.

@krazypenguin: I apologize I did not see that before. Although holy hell that is a comprehensive history!

@ollon: You're right, that old MM was ridiculously unfair. SU-5 facing a Maus... urgh... it's like a MS-1 facing a KV-1... the competition is hard there indeed! :P

I'm afraid you're living in the past man...

In this reality... this Chinaman owns you... or at the very least everything you think you own :)

Does anyone else remember when wrecks were immovable objects, a tiny wreck of a jollytraktor could block the mighty maus.

Or when people were afraid of the mighty maus.

And back in the days when there was only 3 tanks with 750 alpha guns, T30, ISU and  obj 704.

When you were looking down the gun barrel of an IS7 with your T5 Pz4.

Good times.

When the T50, and T50-2 were gods on tracks.

When herds of wild Type 59's caused T5 drivers to grind their teeth.

When herds of wild artillery turned tanks into campers or burnt hulks.

Welcome back Ding!

I remember my first platoon a few weeks after I started playing. I were in a BT-2, with you and someone else, and felt so proud when you told me I did good. :) Hopefully we'll be able to toon again, because I learn stuff every time.

I've been around 3 times last 3 days. Didn't see you yet. Once I do find you, I'll come knocking. And it's very nice to hear I've made an impact STS. Can't wait to talk to ya again :)

Back when (nearly) every PzKpfw IV carried the Schmalturm with the L/70.

Before Brits,

Nippontenks,

Frenchies &

Chinese...

I haven't been on the forums that long, nor grinded played much during these last three years, but... Oh,
