Version 0.7.5 & WoT StartPack version 1.3 compatible

Hi there WOT community

We would like to show you guys a new Mod installer we have been working on.

Some highlights:

You dont need to unzip or unrar files, the WOT Mod Installer will do that for you
You dont need to know about Folders and files and where to put them.
Very easy installation of multiple mods
Very easy enabling/disabling of mods

USAGE:
1) Create a Mod folder on your computer
2) Download mods you like to that folder
3) Start WOT Mod Installer
4) Select the folder where World of tanks is installed
5) Point the "Mod Path" to the folder created in step 1

OR:
1) Start WOT Mod Installer
2) Select the folder where World of tanks is installed
3) Drag Mod files from your explorer onto the "drop button"

Done, now you can install all the mods you have (zip and rar files)

Install from here

Here are some introduction videos:
Intro video
Video of the new version
Install HD maps with Mod Installer
Video of new mod drag & drop

Take a look at the videos and tell us what you think :-)

REMARK: The installer logs (anonymous) what mods you install, this allows us to make mods top 10 (when we have more data)
You can see Here what we do with the data. (updated 19-12-2011)

Here is a screenshot of the installer

Would be nice if it would get a security audit from WG first. In many online games, modding addons, installers and whatnot also contained small "gifts".

Please note that I am not saying that this is the case, just pays to be cautious. After two decades online, you kinda develop a healthy dose of paranoia :D

-----------

Nice work, judging from the video. Looking forward to it. Voted a big one-up for you.

@Ecotech:

It would be nice it they would do an audit, but i doubt it.

I dont know if it helps, but you can check out my Age of Conan installer that has been used for quite some time:
AOC UI Installer

The only "gift" in this program is gathering of statictics (anonymous!!), about what mods are being installed.
I am hoping this can help users find the coolest mods later on by presenting top 10 or 20 mods.

Another feature we are thinking about is mod rating, so the users can rate the installed mods. (not planned for version 1)

@xTheArtOfWarx

When the community is ready for a beta :-)

Actually it is working with skins, but WG did not implement modding for swf and tga files, so this will take some time to implement.

If you are interested we could publish a beta that only work with skins?

Best regards

Nice!

The beta is installed by using a technology called ClickOnce.
This gives us the ability to update on the fly, when you start the program it will automatically check for a new version.

When you first start you need to do the following:
1) Select where WOT is installed
2) Select a folder that contains mods (zip or rar files)

When in doubt check the intro video where I install, disable and uninstall a mod: Intro video

Install WOT Mod Installer (BETA)

Best regards
/Azagatoth & Druuna

PS. REMEMBER we gather anonymous mod install data for later use (mod rating and top 10 mods)

Little question to you please ...
When you say:

Quote

You dont need to know about Folders and files and where to put them.
Does it want to say the archives have to support the game subfolders arcitecture, or your program knows where each file has to go?
ie, fo example, an icon mod:
does the zip/rar have to have the "res\gui\maps\icons\vehicle\*" subfolders, or all the tga files can be just thrown in it with flv files???

The installer supports throwing the files into the archive without folder structure.

So it means you use a built in database containing all files names and folders right?
It is a good idea :)
It only means you have to maintain this db after each patch?
Or, maybe, the program automagically builds and update the database itself when launched?

btw, will give your soft some test time.
After 0.6.4 is released though :P

Isn't JSGME enough useful ? OK, it actually needs to recreate folder structure... But with your tools, people will be waiting for you, developers, tu update your tool if changes are made. And you'll need to create a db with *all* existing files that could be modded... And you'll have to deal with a problem : what about mods which *adds* and not *replace* files ? I mean, you can't know where the files have to go...

Yeah, JSGME is enough...

We dont have a database with files :-)

We have intelligence built in, where we try to locate specific folders and if that is
unsuccessfull we simply find the original file and recreate the folder structure in the mod dir.
There is still some work left regarding "swf", "tga" files and modded "xml" files, but we will get there.

@Fenrhir, this is an alternative to help users with less computer skills.
You dont need to install winrar or winzip since this is also handled by the WOT Mod Installer.
So if you are happy with JSGME, then keep using it :-)

Thanks for clarification Azagatoth ;)

more questions then:
do you do this "active file search" each time a mod is enabled/disabled?
just because i suppose you could build a local db of files structure on first run, then refresh after updates (client version available in a txt file)

Each time you select a mod and install it, then we create the folder structure.

But once they are installed, (placed on the right side) the only thing that needs to be done is
an entry put into paths.xml (when you press the save button).
This results in very litte work once the mod is installed!

Due to a change in recent patch, swf and icon files are now also loaded dynamically.
This means that most if not all mods are now supported by the WOT MOD installer.

Please let me know if you have a mod that doesn't work with the current version of the installer.

Druuna

I would like to state that they are NOT similar!

Fact: We do NOT replace original files, JSGME does!
With the WOT Mod Installer, you can install mods really fast without having to extract files and folders!

Best regards
/Azagatoth

PS.
If you are a JSGME fan, keep using it but please dont fill our thread with links to it.
