They're gonna replace FV4202 with a new tier 10 tank soon, this is is confirmed now, so we're expecting that to become the British tier 8 medium premium, with it's historical armour and the 20pdr gun. Shouldn't be hard for them to actually implement, so the waiting will be caused entirely by this new tier 10 vehicle.

The German premium has already been announced, it's the Panther 1 with the Panther 2's top gun. Your excitement may vary.

My check list for buying a new tier 8 prem med.

1. Good gun depression

2. Good speed

3. Great gun

If it has the assets of a proper medium i will buy it out the damned gift shop to show my support even though i have 20k gold in my account i dont care i want a proper medium and the T-54 1945 is not anywhere close to being a proper medium.

I don't think you'll find that in any premium medium soon, except maybe a Japanese one. Especially the speed part, since they will always use their historical engines.

No. A lighter version of T54 will be a new soviet tier 8 light tank.

So how many T-54 clones is that in total? T-54, T-62A, Obj.140, the light tank and the med. Lulz

You forgot to mention type 69 and wz 120.

No. There will be a lighter T-54 with less armor and more speedz on tier 8 as a premium tank.

This tank is already in the game. It's called T-44.

Edit: Hopefully the tank will have some drawbacks, or else it will make the T-44 completely obsolete. If the new premium is to be fast (like the T-44) and lightly armored (like the T-44, though that tank might bounce poorly aimed shots), it needs to either have a bad aimtime or pen.

I don't think a long aim time is the solution. Great mobility is not worth much if you can't poke over a ridge and fire quickly. Therefore, a low pen gun is the only solution.

If the new premium had a 160-165 penetration gun and max tier 9 mm it could work. I'd buy a tank like that if it could face tier 9 max.

Can someone explain to me why did they stop selling the type 59? I mean if it was too good why not just nerf it and keep it? Isnt it [edited]to stop the sale and let those few (not that few actually) lucky ones have a "too strong tank to offer" ??

Well they nerfed it quite seriously already. The Type 59 is still a very well balanced T8 premium. It's got decent armor, decent mobility, decent gun. Compare this to the other T8 premiums they all have an aspect that's realy crap. Either the armor is non existant, or they are slow as hell or the gun is crap. So instead of nerfing it further they decided "hey, why not take it out of the store and use it as a contest prize!" So now they have one tank a lot of players "crave". They dangle it infront of those masses like a carrot on a string. (you should have seen the E3 twitch channel when the handed out one Type 59 every 45 minutes). Ontop of that they now make new medium premiums like the T-34-3 and the upcoming T-54 suckering in people who are going "OMGZ NEW TYPE 59 MUST BUY!"

Just to be clear, I dont have a Type 59 and I dont care about getting one either. If I could yes I'd get one, but I cant so be it.

Way how premiums are designed is, taking higher tier model(t54), giving it lower tier gun(t43), and adding stock engine in terms of tier(t44).

And that is why we don't have tier 8 premium med yet, as t54 armor is way OP on it's own tier, now take it in tier lower battles.

Well, i really hope they dont make the new t-54 silly bad. All i want is a balanced all rounder to have fun while im making credits. I dont enjoy TDs and am getting sick T34, even tho its very good money maker for me.

If they changed T-44 to premium id buy it.

With limited MM, yes. At tier 10, the T-44 was not fun at all to play...

Well, they want to make it slower than Type 59, so it will probably have garbage acceleration, because Type 59 isn't great on the acceleration either - it can go at a quick pace, but it has startup lag (took my T-34-3 out for a spin, has same mobility stats except top speed). Still, it will probably still be capable of reaching a good speed in a reasonable time, unlike, say, a Super Pershing. The hull armour will be pretty good, and the turret armour will be acceptable.

It will depend a lot on the soft stats, especially the ground resistance and the accuracy and reload. Gun handling is IMO less important since it won't be much of a racecar.

At tier X?=) In those games you are left to spot or backstab, which the t-44 is not bad at either.

Agreed.

I hope they make the softstats reasonable. My money is prepared, but they must not screw it up =)

Just took another look and it seems the historical top speed is 44km/h, much lower than Type 59's 56km/h and T-34-3's 50 km/h, so I'm hoping they'll leave the ground resistance alone and give it something reasonable, like 0.9 or 1.0 (on hard surface).

But then again, this is Wargaming. They're equally good at ruining things as they are at making awesome things.

Lets hope =)

I really dont see why they couldnt make it a good competitive tank. Not OP, just good and fun. They would make craptons of money on sales yet i dont think games would be tooflooded with it as not everyone is prepared to pay for tanks and not everyone is fun of meds.

But as you said.. its WG. Could be a disaster.

I think they'll make a crapton of money either way, just because it's a T-54 and most people don't do research :coin:

Well from what I've seen it's just going to be a Russian super P that looks like a t54, basically something I wont buy because a medium is mobile right....WG????
