So I'm almost 16 years old and I've saved some money for the past few years. (I have now around 1200$ worth of money) I've been thinking about it for a while, but since 9.0 rolled out I realized how old my computer is getting, (it's from 2010, with a few minor upgrades) and I was thinking about buying myself one of those super strong Alienware PC's that would last for the next 3-4 maybe even more years. Problem is that in my country enlisting the army is compulsory, and everyone does it slightly after they turn 18, so I might not have that much time to make full use of the PC. On top of all that, 1200$ is a lot of money, so it might be wiser to save it for when I become an independent citizen, since then money would be a little harder to come by. So i was wondering what other people think I should do: Should I fulfill my wishes and buy a super awesome PC for the next 2 and a half years or so, or should I save the money for more important things when I start studying and have my own apartment and so on? Let me know what you people think.

More important things, of course. A game's not worth the money you could spend in your future.

DON'T BUY AN ALIENWARE. You can buy a machine with the exact same components inside for a lot less money.

Yes, Alienware are just Dell now.

Build your own is the best bang for buck.

Not necessarily Yag0. It was cheaper to buy mine from a specialist then build it myself.

My suggestion.....spend a little of the money on a couple of upgrades to last the next couple of years and save the rest.

How good is your graphics card? Do you have enough ram?  what windows version are you running - Vista is crap, use win 7 instead and so on.

My pc is now 5 years old and still runs WoT on decent settings and 40+ fps. (shadows and other minor stuff on low)

Just got to watch out for bottle necks. But that's a good idea.

That can only be a question of the price of the parts, after all the specialist has to be making a profit.

There are other reasons why DIY is better too.

Yep. When I priced my pc components it worked out slightly more expensive than me getting it from a company built. Couldn't believe it.

i have a six year old laptop that can run garrys mod at high and dawn of war 2 at around medium specs also it can run cod 4 at high and cod 5 at medium (i have a dodgy copy so running it at medium is the best option) it can also run world of tanks at low-medium but im still waiting for it to redownload.

and what country forces you to join the army at the age of sixteen?

It says slightly over 18. The UK could do with National Service being implemented again.
