A Short Note about Upcoming Balancing Changes

We have a short note from our developers to share with you about upcoming balancing changes:

 

Our development team has been thoroughly reviewing and analysing the vehicle balancing changes we have planned for the next update. As a result of this review we have decided to cancel some of the vehicle balance adjustments that were planned for update 9.1 and to keep the following changes.

 

  • Increasing the visibility of tank destroyers when shooting.
  • Decrease the battle tiers for light tanks.
  • Improving the vehicle characteristics of МТ-25 and VK2801.
  • Reloading speed decrease for the 105мм Sherman M4 gun when using the first turret — a fix for a bug inherited from the previous version.
  • Damage caused by UBR-354КА shell (AP shells used for some soviet 76mm guns) changed from 105 to 110. (Damage caused by this type of AP ammo is currently 5 points lower than damage caused by the respective premium shells).

 

Essentially it was decided that it would be bad idea to pull several levers at once and impose huge system corrections such as the increased visibility of tank destroyers while shooting, at the same time as things like balancing the matchmaking weight for certain vehicles. 

 

It doesn't mean that we aren't going to review the balance of the Hellcat and Tiger. Balance changes like that will be considered and implemented in the future as a part of complex tasks like the fixing of balance weighting issues faced by certain middle tier vehicles.

 

Also in the future we are going to change vehicle characteristics in a more consistent manner, which should make our changes more understandable. We are generally going to pay special attention to making our vehicle balancing process more transparent and with that in mind we plan to provide you with more details of our changes so you can understand the reasoning behind why we have decided to make certain vehicle characteristic changes.

What WE need is for you to fix the game lags and freezes which appeared after the 9.0 release.

I agree, more cases of 'A few players are good, NERF THE TANKS!'

However I doubt asking them to fix something in a 'proper' topic would be useful, let alone in something to do with balance and not bugs :)

 

Case and point: I was the 4th respondent to 9.0 test server in Graphical Changes. I told them about the garage running my graphics card at max, you think they listened? Nope, now I over-heat my card while waiting for a clan war battle etc.

......... Okay I agree they need to focus on other areas first but the Tiger does need some kind of rebalance... 240 alpha with a 5 second reload at tier 7 not to mention superb pen... accuracy and aim time.

I repurchased the tiger after the ROF buff and it is a totally different machine then it used to be you can literally just sit head to head in the open with any other vehicle at tier 7 and take the hits and still absolutely wreck it.

Excellent, thanks for the info and explanation, it's really good to know what's planned.

 

A bit worrying about the re-balancing of scouts (my Luchs lubs tier 8 games), and about a potential future nerf to the Tiger. But that isn't the point here, you're informing us and that's really good. Ty :-)

So, over nerf the VK and remove the T-50-2 to replace it with MT-25 - then realize that both tanks are now utter useless - then buff them cuz nobody wants to play them anymore.....

just wtf....

I sold both of them when you made them useless, the 50-2 being my favorite tank of all time, I was quite disappointed....

While I applaud taking it slow with major corrections in any situation as they drastically influence the way this game is played, might I suggest incrementally decreasing the camo bonus when firing with TD's instead of just slamming it in across the board. 2 weeks on a test server is not enough to check changes properly as the majority (of the bad) players never play the test server and they have a large influence on how vehicles are played across the server.

 

Change something in a minor way, look how it performs on the live server for 2-4 weeks, then change it more if needed via smaller hotfix patches. That is the best way to do balancing because what currently happens is that vehicles over perform and then they get nerfed so hard they underperform most of the time. By taking it slower and incremental situations like this are avoided.

I very much agree with the suggestion that you might do the balanceing tier by tier rather than nation by nation.  And waiting for the effect of the camo changes makes a lot of sense as that will impact differnet TDs to different extent.

 

On the Light tanks, decreasing the battle tier will help them perhaps do more damage, but doesn't help much with the scouting, other than reducing the number of scouts at top tiers.    A better direction to go in would be to imporve their ability to scout.   Consider having coated optics as standard equipment and then have binocs and nets activate faster on light tanks than on other classes.

Or just fix their camo ratings to the values they used to have before you last fiddled with the camo system (was it 8.6)?

WG, why don't you focus on the real problem? We don't need "balancing"! We need a stable game that we can play! We need you to fix CTD, 5 sec long freeze and lag.

Not talking about it is not going to wipe it away. 

Also, after provideing every logs and info to the customer service about these problems they tell me i should maybe install directx 9 or unblock the game from firewall. Really?! ?! Even a 2 year old can tell you that! =))

Hey Brynd, and wargaming

 

Heres a thought, why not fix the POOR PERFORMANCE, LAGS and Freezes and eh Crash To Desktop instead of pussying about with tank models and 5 penetration on a gun and pissing with tiger tanks

 

because its no use have +5 penetration on your gun when your system freezes and crashes

 

fix the problems, stop dicking around with the simple crap
