Hey all.

I'd like to ask, how many of you (who will read this) will go and try out the Warthunder Ground Forces that comes today (hopefully)into open beta (as in everyone can play it) i myself will go test it out mostly to see if it will have somewhat same feeling as red orchestra 2s tank battles had. And if you do, any thought on how it may affect World of Tanks? (as in will many people leave WoT for good or will most play both (as i do)).

Intrepid95

And please, no war about which one looks better, graphics do not make a game.

I'll probably give Ground Forces a go, just like I did when I initially heard about War Thunder, and then lose interest pretty quickly just like last time. My friends and my clanmates are on WoT, not on GF.

I am in closed beta of GF and i must say i really like it.

What I like the most is

Graphics  - Much more beutiful graphics with same fps like wot, no freezes, no fps drops

Spotting system - shooting over large distances, no invisible tanks at 200 meters,

HP system - destroying tanks by knocking out crew members

movement - The way you acclerate, no easy peekabo like in wot your driver actualy uses gearbox, it takes some time to get in top speed

Track destroying. - absolutely love it, when you destroy one track your tanks doesnt stop but you can still turn in one spot

Armor value - tanks actually have some armor which protects them

No gold auto pen ammo

Large maps with much more natural terrain

Respawning - you get killed by camper or ammo rack ? no problem take another tank and show that camper who is master you dont spend more time in garage and loading screens tahn in battles

What i dont like

Researching same tanks over and over

I think its not really balanced when IS 4 is supposed to fight vs tiger II, and panther II is supposed to fight t 54

Not liking the tanks that much. It just feels far too random. Hit no damage, hit no damage, BOOM! What has massively surprised me though is War Thunder itself. I love it. My mate tried to get me into it a while ago and I just kept saying planes don't interest me. How wrong I was. It's really good.

Ground Forces are now in Open Beta.
I'll be checking them out, but most likely it'll stay as an curiosity since more arcade-style WoT suits my drunken playstyle better.

Will give it a try.

Still love the competitive aspect of WoT and will still play it, but War Thunder's realistic battle modes just rock. Started to fly a smooth round of WT realistic battles everytime my win rate goes south in WoT.

I've got war thunder closed beta and it is no where near as good as people make it sound. The amount of times I've heard "Tiger I H. weak in WoT? go try, War Thunder, it rocks!" is just ridicilous. Tiger in GF sucks, Tiger in WoT is pretty darn good... realism? Yeeahhh.... I'll choose fun over realism any day of the week.

I've had a bit of fun with WT GF but I am sticking to WoT.

Tiger I is impenetrable at 1km and angled at 35° in WT.I know because I've bounced multiple shells from all the 8 poor russian souls that tried to exchange fire with me in the last match before they closed the servers for the patch.Every T-34 got one-shotted at 800m-1km and the only tank that needed a second shot was an IS-1 frontally.

Of course all the geniuses think "hurr heavy tonk, much HP",charge into the middle of the map and get flanked by a T34-85 that ruins their day very quickly with a single shot to the ammo rack or engine.

*EDIT* I wasn't sure that they would release open beta yet but they have an official announcement on youtube now:

Era: mid WW2

Location: Kursk

Time of Day: very early in the morning

Weather: cloudy + rain

Tank: PzKpfw V Ausf. D

32 players in total, made up by tanks, AA, fighter-, attacker- and bomber aircraft

No enemy icons on the minimap. Communication between team-players via teamspeak. Utter bliss.

tried ground forces and Im sticking with WoT. One of the reasons is probably that I can play WoT on decent medium graphics while GF just crash if Im not in ultra low, and ultra low graphic realy suck so...

Well my experience is the WT:GF runs much better. I have GTX570 in SLI to drive three screen and the new WoT engine crawls at 20fps in low settings. WT:GF flies along at 45 fps on three screens on medium settings that look as good as WoT on high.

Maybe WT supports sli and WoT doesn't?

As for gameplay my first impressions are WT makes WoT look like a cartoon game.

played WT today all day, I LOVE IT!!! THIS is the game i've been waiting for, goodbye WOT with your fantasy tanks. realism mode and simulator mode FTW!!! people who love real tanks will love this game because it gives you a much better feeling just hope they won't start "rebalancing" (nerf german) tanks like "genius" WG devs do.

Dem faulty DMs though. I believe WT GF is on the same scale of awful as WoT.

I gave it a test run but didn't like it. It's surely more appealing if you are out for graphical beauty and realism but it made me crush out keys off my keybord while trying to control my tank. Stuff drifts, gets stuck, wobbles etc just like a real tank does (I guess) but I want it precise and smooth. I want to focus on blowing stuff up and not on trying to prevent my tank from flipping. If I want a driving challenge I play farming simulator. After 1 hour of play I had a terrible headache and was close to being motion sick because of the unpredictible wobbleing and stuff.

The respawn system is cool, the interface not so. It's like they tried so hard to make it look different from WoT and completely forgot about making it user friendly.

I definitely didn't spend enough time on it for an objective review - just realised very quick that it's not my piece of cake.

I hope WG fetches some inspiration from WT and adds some of the stuff I liked to WoT. But I'm definitely staying here.

Each his own i guess.

Was already playing the flying part of the game and after Ground Forces release WoT has lost all appeal.

(9.2 has got me back though. Stronghold mode is rather brilliant imo.)

You need to play the Tanks in Simulator mode to see why this game really shines.

And man check their specials!

Over € 200 worth of premium planes, tanks and gold to be had with missions atm that are quite do-able unless you totally suck.
