I have been playing with a Chaffee tank, which, I do like.  However, the question I ask is, "Who else has this tank and are you always matched against high tier tanks in battles?". I've played a few matches with it now and it has NEVER been matched against it's own tier level.  Any suggestions as to why this should be?

It's Chaffee, u lucky if u r not in T9 or T10 game, thats one of the reasons why so few ppl play it, second is that it has crazy repair costs.

You are the only person on EU servers who has this tank. Sorry.

Which is the way it's supposed to be, as the chaffee fights only in all tier's above itself. So the only same or lower tier it can encounter is other scouts.

And by the way, I know this piece of information without ever having played a Chaffee :)

(Still on my list of tanks I would like to get, being a true masochist)

Check the MM chart, Chaffee goes all the way to Tier 10, even so I love mine.

Hi!

In Chaffe you'll NEVER see its tier tanks, because Chaffe is clasified as a scout and gets in battles vs. tier-5 to tier-9 vehicles.

Blame's on WG's side tho, for not specifying that explicitly.

Not just a normal scout... it's classified a special scout. As no other scout has such an extreme matchmaking like the Chaffee.

Thanks guys, appreciate the information.  I know that tanks are usually pitched against tiers a little higher than themselves but it does seem odd that a tier 5 should be in matches with tier 10.  I still like the tank though, it has a nice 'feel' about it.

Because were it allowed in tier 5 and lower it would be one of the most over powered tanks ever, but then you knew that right?

Love my Chaffee :girl::wub:  I live in fear of the day it will get changed - the T-50-2 and VK 28.01 all got smashed and only the Chaffee lives on!

As has been said it is a scout, and a special scout at that.  I think the lowest I have seen is a tier VII game in it... and when in something like that I play like a normal tank :izmena:

But if I have to face tier Xs then I am happy doing it - I love shooting things like IS-7s when they want to be busy aiming at someone else.  At first you seem like an annoyance taking 110 health off them but it doesn't take you long to take loads off and then run away!

The Chaffee is a relic of the past.

It is from a time when Tier 5 was the highest scout tier, and the Chaffee, T-50-2, Vk 2801 and (i think) the ELC AMX where the highest scouts in the game.

The only one remaining is the Chaffee. All others have been changed, put into different tiers, or completely abandoned.

So you can enjoy (?!) the "old" scout play in the Chaffee. Which means tier 10 games, but also a very powerful little machine. If you meet a T21 in a Chaffee you will probably rip it a new one. But it is also very very challenging.

The line will be extended up to T8 in 2014, so keep your Chaffee. It's obsolete, but its successors may be good.

Who knows where the Chaffe will be in Future.

As of now its somewhat on par with the T21 so the Chaffee could be on T6 instead.

The Chaffee deffinately fullifies charecteristics of a T6 or partly T7 rather than T5.

I rather fight a AMX 13xx or a Tiger II , than a T21 in close combat.

The T21 is a nimble, high RoF and fast travers opponent. I've lost several of such encounters at perfect conditions.

chaffee is always in tier 9-10 but once in a full moon you can get tier 7 game

I'm keeping mine just to see how it's gonna be in the future

I don't play it though

there is plenty of chaffee owners just keeping it for the future grind

I understand that you like your M24 Chaffee and that you sledomly receive a good MM in order to have fun.

A good MM happens more often than not recently.

It is great fun and I recommend to play as long as the M24 Chaffee is like that.

Spoiler

LOL I just started to play it and I admit I am useless with it. A small miracle, that I have a 68 percent win rate on it.

I usually get shot once for 350 damage. Then because my cammo values aren't high enough hide so that no enemy tanks have a line of sight on me to shoot me.

I think I may just grind it out then, let it gather dust in the garage, in the hope one day it will lead onto the Walker Bulldog. probably one of the most popular tank requests made on the US forums.

Be patient in all aspects, train all camo skill 1st, slowly develop vehicle handling at the keyboard and show battlefield awareness.

Do some research in the US LT forum section on crew and modul configurations.

Your M5 Steart experince should have tought you something about LT gameplay.

Just continue your battlefield behavior until 1st crew skill is complete and you are at Elite status.

I agree that this vehicle has steep leaning curve.

Letting the M24 Chaffee gather dust in the garage will most likely not enable you to skip the LT gameplay learning experince.

The next vehicle will require at least parts of this knowledge, in order to be successful.

Some of the hardships along this learning path can be eased with about 25k free XP to get Elite status.

The hardships and pain regarding the LT gameplay can only be skipped with battlefield experience.

You have a sufficient amount of overall battle experience to make M24 Chaffee gameplay enjoyable for your team and for yourself.

Patience is a virtue!

:honoring:
