I love my little chaffe, and i love beeing in tier x battles with it. I load Gold ammo, rush to a nice spotting position and watch the big juicy tanks die on my spots. Then cleaning up the rest with awsome gold shot pen. Nothing is more fun than trolling around a maus killing it little by little while he cry goold noob in chat xD Trolololololo

Hi!

In Chaffe you'll NEVER see its tier tanks, because Chaffe is clasified as a scout and gets in battles vs. tier-5 to tier-9 vehicles.

Blame's on WG's side tho, for not specifying that explicitly.

BR,  Iztok

Then mine must be extra special, because I tend to see Tier X vehicles quite often as well.

Also, as the Chaffee is a Tier V how would it never see it's own Tier when according to you it gets into battles against Tier V vehicles?

Actually it's lowest battle tier is BT7 so it does in fact see tier 5s. Just only as bottom tiers in a tier 7 match.

Why are you people implying that fighting with tier X is a bad thing for Chaffee? It's a scout mainly responsible for detecting enemies, so it makes little difference at what tiers your enemies are. Besides, you get the chance of scoring some DMG against +5 tier, getting a lot of exp and credits for that. I remember how I shot half of hp of enemy T-62A that was detracked and exposing its side to me.

Mine sees mostly tier 9 game Tier 6-7 is rare. Tho I've not seen a tier 5 max match since 8.5 or 8.6. Even my ELC got matches as top dog back then a few times. Tho now. Tier 9 seems to be its sweet spot atm.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my query.  Please understand that I am not a 'pro-gamer' or anything like that and that I play just for pure enjoyment.  I am not overly concerned about being in a match with higher tiers as it gives me a chance to see what other tanks are like in combat.  I was simply curious about that particular tank and the match making. :smiles:

I've been sitting in bushes for more than 1k matches just doing this. I remember this to be great fun and always .

I think it's a left over from the "super-scout" days. it, along with the T-50-2 and the old tier 5 VK 28.01 were end of the line light tanks that only got into tier 6+ (or even only tier 7+?) games. That's why the Chaffee has such high repair costs as well.

Though don't ask me why WG didn't just put them in at tier 7, because a lot of people buy the Chaffee (and to a lesser degree regular scouts) and have no idea why they are constantly fighting Tiger II's and T-54s even though they are tier 4 or 5.

I think they had (or perhaps still have) a philosophy that a tank's position in a tank line determines it's "Tier"... when really, tier should be determined by matchmaker "battle tiers" to keep things straightforward.

I have been playing with a Chaffee tank, which, I do like.  However, the question I ask is, "Who else has this tank and are you always matched against high tier tanks in battles?". I've played a few matches with it now and it has NEVER been matched against it's own tier level.  Any suggestions as to why this should be?

This tank has a high spread, thus u will be matched between 7-10 tiers.  http://ftr.wot-news....chmaking-table/

However, I usually get to play against 9-10 tiers. Moreover, this tank is additionally annoying because in majority of games its a driving pancake who has no real effect on the outcome of game. U die quickly without making much dmg. When the battle ends then you realise how costly this thing is. I currently have 143 tanks and 60-80 more empty slots for the rest of those which im still trying to get to, and this is the only tank that in 8/10 games causes me to have a negative cash flow. I had only one game i think, in tier 10, in which i killed another chaffee, and dealt some dmg to the back of some TD before someone sent me to Jesus. I had overall 680dmg made and this tanks earned me a little over my losses. Weird is  also that i often get to play against 8-9 tier scouts that rape you every time ur facing them.

I like the tank, but haven't played it in a while though.. Need credits. And being put in hig tier matches isn't a problem at all. I only feel like a jerk standing on top with only 1000 damage or so while others have over 5000 damage. And just want to know, did anyone buy the Chaffee because it would stand above some tier 6 tanks in the list? That really was the only reason for me to buy it :p I was so sad when it wasn't like that anymore after a stupid update..

I am too one of those sickoes braves that enjoy Chaffee in tier 10 games.

In some weird way, I enjoy the situation where no one really can expect me to carry the game, but if I pull if off well, it can happen... and sometimes does.

BTW if you feel Chaffee is draining your credits, check out the Type 64 Chinese premium tank. It's not exactly 100% a Chaffee but the play style is very, very similar. And it has the M1A2 gun, found on tanks like Easy 8... quite familiar.

As it has been said, Chaffee is a light tank considered as a scout with a specific (and terrific...) MM.

Nevertheless, even if I have been a bit surprised by this MM the first time I use it, it is a good tank. The point is that it should be used as a scout but you do need a high skill (not like mine...:hiding:) on this type of gameplay. You should rely on its advantages : it is fast and it has a good gun depression.

Good luck.

It is a lot of XP to get the Chaffee when you are stuck earning it in the M5 Stuart but it is entirely worth it.  I just did my doubles every day... for what seemed like eternity and eventually the Chaffee was mine!:)

Be patient in all aspects, train all camo skill 1st, slowly develop vehicle handling at the keyboard and show battlefield awareness.

Do some research in the US LT forum section on crew and modul configurations.

Your M5 Steart experince should have tought you something about LT gameplay.

Just continue your battlefield behavior until 1st crew skill is complete and you are at Elite status.

I agree that this vehicle has steep leaning curve.

Letting the M24 Chaffee gather dust in the garage will most likely not enable you to skip the LT gameplay learning experince.

The next vehicle will require at least parts of this knowledge, in order to be successful.

Some of the hardships along this learning path can be eased with about 25k free XP to get Elite status.

The hardships and pain regarding the LT gameplay can only be skipped with battlefield experience.

You have a sufficient amount of overall battle experience to make M24 Chaffee gameplay enjoyable for your team and for yourself.

Patience is a virtue!

:honoring:

Over 4000 games in you Chaffee! you really love that tank!!! Now if it were a Hellcat or a KV-IS  We would all call you a stat padder! But with a Chaffee it !!!can only be LOVE!! I am working through the M5 for the Chaffee! will probably suck at that tank! but i still want it! M5 crew will go to chaffee when done.should have some cammo on the crew by then.

Really poor in this little thing, had some amazing games but just not consistent enough at all.

Some self inflicted pain in that I don't use gold for crews to help get skills/ perks quicker mind.
