Hello!
Welcome to the M4A2E4 (AKA: CBT or closed beta tank)! it is an award vehicle here on the EU and NA servers, and was given only to closed beta players with more then 1000 battles during the beta. Currently, it can only be bought on the CIS and SEA servers.

Tank specs:

Its tree:

Overview:
The M4A2E4, being a premium tank, is better than a stock T5 medium but worse than a fully upgraded T5 medium. It does not have anything to research, so modules, equipment and crew are the only things that can modify its performance.

It has a premium version of a M3 Lee upgraded gun which means that its armament is poor by tier 5 standards. The low penetration, decent damage, poor accuracy, fast RoF and decent aim time do mean it can chew through lower tier tanks, but in order to fight T6 and even some T5 enemies, it needs careful aim, flanking or luck in order to kill them. Thankfully, the high amount of ammo means it can spam as many AP, APCR and HE shots as it needs to, in order to get the job done. The great gun depression (though only in the front) can also help to achieve shots without retaliation.
Top speed is very good, and so are ramming capabilities. It also seems to have good maneuverability on soft terrain. This is offset by the only decent engine, which means that overall agility and acceleration are not that high.
The armour is good for a tier V medium tank. Frontally, it is tough. Same can be said for turret. However, side and rear are big and penetrable by tier 3 vehicles.

Price: Gift (otherwise, 1 500 gold)
Camouflage: Decent

Gun Depression:-10°/+25° (-5°/+25° in certain positions)

Pros:
-Good frontal armor.
-Good rate of fire and DPM.
-Decent money-making abilities, can train US medium tank crews.
-Good gun depression.
-Low matchmaking.

Cons:
-Bad penetration.
-Not that accurate.
-Mediocre mobility.

Designation:
1. Warrior 2. Steel Wall 3. Medium Support

Crew:
1. Commander
2. Gunner
3. Driver
4. Radio Operator
5. Loader

ModulesArmor scheme of the M4A2E4

Spoiler

Hull:
Well armored at the front, but bad at the sides and rear. Most tier 3 tanks (except Murder II), most tier 4 tanks (except Hetzer and SU-85B) and even some tier 5 tanks will have trouble dealing damage from the front. Sides and rear are minced-meat for most vehicles near the M4A2's tier though.

Suspension:

M4A2E4T42 . Max.capacity: 33.3 (T) /  turn rate 37 deg / sec
Good enough and you can mount some more equipment too. Very good mobility on soft terrain.

Engine:

General Motors 6046 engine 420 hp / 15% chance of fire /

Decent enough engines lets the tank move well ... enough.

Radio:

Radio Station SCR 508 range 570m

More then good enough for a tier 5 vehicle.

Turret:

M4A2E4 D51066
Armor 89/50/50mm
40 deg per sec /
View range of 368m

Strong and sloped, especially at the gun mantlet. Capable of bouncing around 144 mm of penetration. Side and rear are vulnerable though.

Guns:

75mm Gun M3L/37

RoF: 15,77

Penetration: 92/127/38

Average damage: 110/110/175

Accuracy (100m): 0,46

Aim time: 2,06 sec
Same as the M3 Lee upgraded (unfortunately it isn’t researched for the M3 if you have the Sherman) which is not good… you will have problems killing Hetzers and Leopards and other Sherman tanks. PZ4s and T-34s don’t seem too hard. PZ ¾ will bounce sometimes. KV if aimed right can be penned relatively reliably, unless sloped well, so can T1. Arty at tier 4 and less are 1-shotable by the powerful HE shell.

Comparison with it peers

M4A2E4 vs M4 Sherman
The M4 has worse armor. Its shape and thickness just aren't equal to the M4A2E4. Stock M4 is very weak compared to the CBT, but a fully upgraded one has access to the 105 and 76mm guns which are miles better than the M3L. Upgraded it also has as a whole better mobility and acceleration thanks to a superior engine, though when going down-hill you will have the advantage as the M4A2E4 has a little higher top speed. In short
M4A2E4 is a great ramming tank, better than M4
M4A2E4 is better than stock sherman but is worse against higher tier opponents.
Both make a lot of credits, but CBT does earn more

M4A2E4 vs PZ IV
The Panzer IV is much weaker when stock, but packs a serious amount of fire power once with the 75L70 or 105 mm gun. The CBT out guns the IV until it has the 75L48, but still has a higher DPM. Both tanks have good armor at this tier, but again the M4A2E4 has better frontal armor. In short
M4A2E4 is better than stock PZ4 but is worse against higher tier opponents.
Both make a lot of credits, but CBT does earn more
M4A2E4 wins most 1v1 engagements no matter the PZ4 equipment.

M4A2E4 vs T-34
M4AE4 wins 1v1 engagements no matter the upgrades on T-34. T-34 is faster and more accurate with more penetration, but you still have more armor. In short
M4A2E4 is better than stock T-34 but is worse against higher tier opponents.
Both make a lot of credits, but CBT does earn more
M4A2E4 wins most 1v1 engagements no matter the T-34 equipment.

M4A2E4 vs PZ3/4
Both have about the same armor. PZ3/4 is faster and more maneuverable. Both are good vs smaller tanks, though turret on PZ3/4 is a possible weak-spotIn short:
Both arent really good vs higher tier opponents, though PZ3/4 is a little better when fully upgraded
1v1 its PZ3/4 victory mostly
M4A2E4 is still better at credit making.

Historical M4A2E4 in battle

The M4A2E4 was made to be a lend-lease tank for exportation to other countries like the Soviet Union and Great Britain that used gasoline engines. It also has a very advanced suspension system (torsion bar), that was very difficult to maintain. Only 2 M4A2E4s were ever made.

Suggestions to the developers:

-Buff accuracy to 0,42
-Buff acceleration

You could do with check boxes rather than radio buttons if you want sensible / complete replies.

FYI, I use ventilation and a rammer.  I've left the third slot empty because I can't decide between the various improved aiming devices and a cammo net.  I don't use consumables on any tank.

Right now I have improved ventilation and camo net.  I plan on getting a rammer soon.

I play it quite a bit as a credit gainer. I did miss the none and none options in your poll ;)

I have to admit that it is a quite good tank, but the fact that it is American makes it bad in my view(Germans FTW).

I had some nice matches with it, but sold it because I stopped playing Russian and US tanks.

Now I see why flexibility is a god-send  :Smile_great:
Still... why sell it? I dont like people that play only 1 nation of tanks, but selling a tank with the potential to make you millions of money in 1 go in the future?

The gun of this tank is terrible even with a fully trained crew you still gonna miss if you try to aim if they increase the acuracy of the gun by 0.4 - 0.5 its going to be awsome !
I can only guess is that the idea of this tank is to prevent you for using it as credit farmer !

I played 190 games in mine... Got like 170 kills at an ave of 470 exp roughly. Nothing amazing as stats go... but it was fairly fun and competitive and I made enough exp to skip m3lee, T1 and hop into an M6 with the 90mm. Not terrible at all imo.

Oh and whilst i was doing all that... I made like 2.5million creds straight up. Might have been more... 2.5m/190 is only 13k a game profit which m4 easily makes.

I was a cheap bastard though and didnt buy any modules for my m4. Might want to add in none and none options.

P.S... Just noticed.. is that a typo in the description of the tank? It says... "The m46 was never mass produced...."

M46?

Yesterday a friend of mine with the same CBT go premium. We went in a platoon together... was insanely fun :) i got 4 kills in the first battle and he got his first top gun with the M4A2.. and we were vs KVs  :Smile-playing:
It just needs a special aggressive way of playing + 100% crew.

Yeah, you have to be aggressive with that low damage, high RoF. Otherwise you won't even kill a t-28 before he turns the corner. I'm playing it on a friend's account.

Strange story, after the release of the game I was disappointed about losing my tanks from beta and having only this one. I didn't even play 1 game with it, I rage-sold it, played a few matches at tiers 1 and 2 and left WoT for some time. Now the strange part : Where did those 300,000 credits go ? When I came back to the game I only had Pz2 and su-76 with a few credits and of course I didn't/wouldn't buy any modules or retrain for these retard tanks.

So my question is, where did my credits go ?

Naaah, it's probably something stupid. Well, if anyone reading this has access to the account logs, maybe he can take a look and see where that 300k went ?

(I assume all activities are logged)

It's good in games where you're near the top, as it means fighting with/against T1 heavies and KV... If it's near the bottom, it's simply useless. The caliber is too small for HE shots to actually connect (ping/ricochets all the time), and the AP... well, it just won't penetrate.

Important: Every premium tank has a little known feature- you can retrain its crew to another U.S medium tank without loosing ANY experience. Thus, M4A2E4 can be an excellent trainer for the U.S. medium tanks crew’s.

Anyone tested this?  I tried to move my pzV/IV crew to another tank and it didnt work. Maybe it's only for the gold premium tanks?

I sold mine and am glad I did.

It was useful as an earner at first , but as soon as I had stug/pz4/kv  it was no longer my top earner.

Its a shit tank to  play , It cannot penetrate an aweful lot of tanks it is put up against and is not a fun tank.

I did consider holding onto it on the offchance I could sell it for gold later to buy garage slots, but I doubt WG will allow this.

It may be worth a million or 2 later, but Its replacement that I used its slot for will have earned far more then I would get for selling it ( and be more fun)

Wait! what? u must be kidding me,...

tried retraining my crew for another us med that i just unlocked and wanted to see if it's true...

the tank has either been nerfed in regards of not loosing any experience or that feature never existed.
i still loose like 10% off of what the crew already achieved, taking into account that i am willing to spend 20k per crewmen. if not it is more ofc.
if u switch class (heavy or td for e.g.) it is even more.

same thing does not work for löwe or pz V/IV

plz correct me if im wrong.

regards
