Hey guys! :)

im upgrading my pc soon, my current configuration is this:

GPU: ASUS nVidia GTX 650 1GB

CPU: AMD Athlon II x3 450 ~3.2ghz

RAM: 4GB

FPS in 9.1 on max details went to a somewhat to be called a powerpoint presentation on my screen :D

i have like 20 FPS in city, when tanks are around and shooting, long-story short in a complete mess i get 20 FPS.

im planning to buy this processor: AMD FX-8320 Black Edition x8 3.5ghz and to add 4GB of RAM.

so im going to have 8 core 3.5ghz processor with 8GB of RAM and that GPU, is that going to be enough to run WoT at decent FPS in messy situations?

Thanks :)

Bad idea. Instead pick a CPU from this list that reaches at least 1700 Single Threaded points: http://www.cpubenchm...ngleThread.html

AMD sucks at single threaded applications.

^that is the case for wot, yes. But AMD are more than good enough for other games that actually use all cores and offers more bang for $. Still, if you have the money, Intel is gonna be better. DUnno about he GPU, might want to upgrade it as well...

I'd save your cash and get yourself a nice Intel i-series motherboard/CPU combo. You could save loads and risk buying used if you so desire (I bought a used pre-built i5 rig OC'd to 4.5Ghz with 2 years warrenty left over a year ago). Either way, you really should go down the Intel route, I was an AMD fanboy but I never looked back.

yes, im actually going to play GTA V and other games when they come out. not just WoT, it will eventually get me bored and i will be back at it in intervals. But i keep it in mind if im upgrading anything, cause i know its unoptimized, and if unoptimized game runs on good FPS any other can! :)

Just remember one thing?
Success breeds contempt (Think Man Utd?).

Intel chips are better than Amd chips.
Ignore 'bang for buck' comments. Save your cash and buy a chip that won't break your heart and disappoint you.

@OP

FX-8320. Check if your motherboard socket is AM3+.

It is important to notice Athlon II x3 450 uses AM3 socket and FX-8320 needs AM3+ socket.

Hence check your motherboard if it includes a AM3 socket you will need to buy new one.

Personally if i would need to buy new motherboard and processor i would choose intel.

(ps: at the moment intel offers better performance per core)

Intel is too complicated for me. can you please suggest a intel processor with 4 cores, and a motherboard that supports it? they are really expensive.....

What is your budget for CPU + Motherboard + RAM + GFX card

This almost a complete system and it may be better to picj up something cheap and update the PSU and graphics

Assuming you have your own license for an OS.....

http://www.misco.co....W-No-OS-1Yr-RTB

+ a reasonable PSU

http://www.misco.co....wer-Supply-Unit

a mid range gfx

http://www.misco.co....s-Graphics-Card

Less than £400

or get one of the nice machines from OcUK

I'd go for a core i5 cpu with 8gm of ram and upgrade that video card if you can, you may be able to pick up a cheap GTX 660 ( that's almost the same as the newer GTX 770 as the 770 is a rebrand of the 660 with a slight overclock ). You don't need core i7 for games in fact you need it for very little as most apps can't use the treads it can run so save a few quid on the CPU and devote them to your video card.

I run:

core i7 4770K

Samsung 240Gb SSD for boot drive and W0T

2TD HDD for storage

16Gb Ram

GTX 770 ( 4Gb)

in a water cooled rig by Cyberpower but that's overkill for WoT at present, this may not be the case when they move to the Havoc engine though.

Oh one more very important thing, you need to run a x64 OS to use more than 4Gb of ram ( I know it's technically a little less than this but that also included video card memory ) so you can throw the worlds supply of memory into a PC but unless you have a x64 OS you'll only get to use a max of 4Gb of it, the rest will just use power and contribute nothing. A little like a noob player in WoT ;)

My motherboard is ASRock N68-GS3 UCC, and today i unlocked 4th core!?!? i got into BIOS and enabled the UCC thing and now when i type DxDiag under processor it says that i have: AMD Phenom II x4 850 ~3.2ghz but yet i dont feel any improvements in FPS when in WoT, in other games i can feel very smoother FPS!

yes, because WoT supports only 1 core...it's stupid and it's not worth getting intel processor just for that...

Because at some point they will probably optimize game for multi cores...

Don't get why there's so much hate for AMD. My config is completely AMD based and I can run WoT at maximum graphics at more than 50 FPS.

I don't hate AMD, used to use Athlons and Opterons in my PC's until the Intel Core architecture came out ( Core was based on P3 Copermine rather than the P4 ), however AMD have not come up with a CPU that can beat Core in anything but the low end of the market or if you want to use on CPU graphics where they do beat Intel. Basically if you can afford it you should go Intel at present as the savings you can make by using AMD aren't large enough to pay for the video card upgrade you'll need.

An idea about this config:

INTEL Core i7 i7-4770K

Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming GT

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 2GB DDR5 PCI-E 3.0 N770WF3-2GD
