Well, it finally appeared on the supertest (for patch 9.3, before anybody asks). Linkage with some (preliminary) stats and pictures of the model: http://ftr.wot-news....t49-light-tank/

I like the approach that it seems WG is taking with their new tanks, rather than just sticking linear upgrades that culminate with a "top gun" they now seem to be giving tanks real different options in terms of weaponry. It seems all three guns will be competitive, at least as long as the soft stats and ROFs are reasonable.

This pleases me, because whilst I think the 152mm could be fun, it would be a bit of a change of ethos from the Chaffee, going from excellent gun handling, low alpha, high dpm snap-shotter to derp-derp-derp, presumably with abysmal gun handling. Personally I'd probably go with the 90mm M41 as I expect it will probably play exactly like an upgunned Chaffee. That and 263 APCR pen will be hilarious!

This might be a reason to start playing again, 152mm derp on a fast light with 10 degrees depression js just awesome

Fedaykin,  I for one would like you to see posting something positive about KV-2 after you've cried so much how community tricked you into buying that piece of crap.

Will be interesting to hear what sort of whining you'll produce if you opt to go your first LT tank tree line.

Seems to be a pretty interesting tank and also a good joice for team battles.

I think I get myself one of those... does the Chaffee lead to this tank? What is the tech tree going to look like?

Hm...

Sounds good. the derpgun may seem nasty but I think in allround effectiveness the 90mm would fare much better. the derp lacks the properties for effective hit and run tactics;

- it cant fire on the move properly (duh)

- slow aim time

- huge reticle

- I wouldnt be shocked if the turret were to turn rather slowly with that thing mounted

Basically you need to drive up close your target, wait for a decent amount of aim and then fire. stopping and aiming for several seconds is -not- healthy for a light tank. and getting so close that you need to aim less might solve some aiming issues but still...

With the 90 mm I think it ll  be the US equivalant of the Chinese WZ brothers

With the derp, I think it becomes a very gimicky, extremely situational but funny tank.

Aim time is not that big issue. It's a LT, so decent camo. With awesome depresion, good view range - find a bush to pop out to fire nuke and move half map while reloading.

It is only bad if there aren't any bushes. I'm definately going to play for 50+ rounds with derp just to get the feel of it.

The problems (lack depression, viewrange, mobility) with KV-2 still give enough fun to derp around. This enormous rocket derp will be so fun. Competent platoon of them is going to be... depressingly annoying for enemy team.

While the derp might not be the most efficent weapon for a consistent performance, I still think the frustrations can be weight up by getting to the rear of tanks utterly destroying them, or slowly chipping away on an E-100 400 meters away by just autoaiming it.

Will get me one of these for sure.

Thing is with this tank u can't really face hug or side hug a TD or something if u want to fire HE shells because you have paper armor so the splash would probably track or damage you even more, but if you're that close against the side and rear of a tank, HEAT may be a good option (especially if u dont expect to pen with HE)

What I do like is that atleast from the leaked stats the HEAT pen is not that good. It will devestate some sides and most rears, but atleast it is not going to be autopen frontally on a tier 9 heavy.

So a heavy HE loadout and some HEAT for flanking. I get more and more hyped by this.:harp:

The tech tree will be tier 5: Chaffee > Tier 6: T37 > tier 7: M41 Walker Bulldog > tier 8: T49 LT > tier 9: T54E1 > tier 10: T57 Heavy.

Ok, if this is the case and I have just researched the T54E1 through the T69 will it still be researched when I buy the T49 LT?  Just thinking it will make the T49 LT a lot easier to elite.

Oh and what is coming after the T69 now then?

The new light line will go paralell to the T57 heavy line starting from the Chaffe.

The T21 will lead to the T71, T69 and then the T54E1. The Chaffe leads to the T37, Walker Bulldog and rhen the T49 LT who will then lead to the T54E1.

Nothing is changed apart from the fact that you have two routes to the T54E1.

Both T69 and T49 LT will lead to T54E1. Having it unlocked will making eliting T49 LT faster, yes.
