Hey all,

I've noticed something on the loading screen for the map Fiery Salient and what I've noticed is the silhouette of the Aircraft, and 2 of them look like A6M Reisen (circled in red) rather than Russian or German Fighters.

I already know I can be wrong, but they just look too similar to the A6M

It isn't important but it is an error as the map is based on the Kursk Salient.

Also the downed plane doesn't look like a Stuka either, the Horizontal Stabiliser is not square enough and the wings are parallel and curve at the tips, this a pic of a Stuka:

They look like FW190

The downed plane could be some variant of IL-10

That would probably make sense then, I've watched too much documentaries about the Pacific war.... :hiding:

And IL-10's never entered service in the Battle of Kursk

Look at the one in the top middle, the underwing markings are the wrong shape/colour and in the wrong place for anything but Japanese.

At first I though it to be IL-2, but the tail wings do not match. IL-10 looks more similar.

Yes, but it would make even less sense to have Japanese planes there.

Another plane that looks similar is the Supermarine Type 224, and the downed planes wings are too straight and Parallel for the IL-2 or IL-10, they don't curve until they get to the Wingtips.

Unless it's an error

On a second thought the circled planes could be Russian LA-5

Cockpit appears to be too forward for an LA-5 and the wingspan is much larger too.

Welp, my bet it's either fw190 or la-5 (leaning towards la-5 because the markings closer resemble, if you can use that word for such low detail, the russian stars). Unless artist went wild and put some random stuff. Totally possible considering wg ways of doing things.

Aye, but the more I look at it and the detail the more I lean towards the A6M, reasons:

The cockpit is too far forward for either the Focke-Wulf FW-190 or the Lavochkin LA-5, and the silver camouflage with black nose is the standard camo used by the IJN during the Pacific campaign along with the position of the Red Decol. Also the Focke-Wulf has a small wing surface and the LA-5 has a much shorter wingspan than the Aircraft in the Picture, the A6M has a large wing surface with a larger wingspan to the LA-5. And to add, the cockpit of the first fighter looks more like the one from the A6M as well.

My guess is someone needed a bit of artwork with planes in the sky and this was available ad looked the part.

Very possible ... just like that one time someone needed a background for Leopard 1 wallpaper ... and end up having mico-sheeps surrounding the tank.

For some reason, I wouldn't be even surprised.

From a one thing to another, I just got a sudden urge to play WT.
