There isn't a Captain Discussion, so this is the second option.

Certain WW2 leader

"One death is a tragedy, one million is a statistic"

Death is always a tragedy. But honestly, how many of you even knew him personally? How about the thousands of Africans that die because they have no food? Do they get their own topic - no. IMHO, this is just hypocritical.

We mourn, even to this limited extent, for those who have in some way touched our lives.

You dont need to know somebody personally to mourn his passing. Yes it is a tragedy that so many people die every day but none of them was a part of my life. I grew up with Robin William's movies and shows and i will certainly miss that.

On numerous times I've seen him on talk shows and he just lights up the stage and makes most people laugh.

Actually I've met him in person twice (benefits of being a 'merican). Both during USO tours. Always had a smile and twinkle in his eye. I know I loved his work and will miss him.

Just because a thousand others are dying doesn't make each death tragic in it's own right.

I just got back from work, have not seen the news  but this is pretty sad, when I was a kid I saw a load of his films I didn't really appreciate any of them fully till I was a bit older, he was a good actor in both serious and childrens films which is rare often actors who are funny in kids films aren't so good with actual roles in films in general.... the only two that come to mind are Mr. Williams and Mr. Murray.
