360m.   Only one Tier 4 scout (Pz.Kpfw. 38 (t) n.A.) has higher view range an that is by just 10m.

It's great to have a 37mm that can't even pen every tier 4 frontally and then get put into tier 5 and 6 games the entire [edited]time with 1 or 2 tier 4 tanks. wp wargaming, great balance.

The american m5 stuart is a mobile 6.th sense for the enemy. If they have no 6th sense perk, you can knock their armor, and they know, if they have been spotted. This tank is not more. No gun, no movement abilities, and pathetic mm. It meets tigers,  wit 58 pen, but this small crapcan not damage a kv1 from back.   Without that old howitzer, it can not make damage. Better to jump trough this crapwith free xp.

This "tank" is a piece of crap that cant pen tier 4 tanks but end up in tier 7 games. Nothing more to say about it. WG wants you to use free xp to get through this "tank"!

It's hilarious should see the M5 stat charts since the change they've all noise dived average win8 has dropped 100 point in the last month alone and they're still dropping, it's far worse at eveything including scouting than it used to be give it a few more months and it be a contender for the worst performing T4.

I'm M5 DOMINATOR, DESTROYER OF WORLDS!!!

~350 dmg in T7 game!

Next game (T5 this time) bounced three mags off the T40 side. Well, not the full mags... 40% of bullets went in the air...

I'm supposed to grind almost 30k exp in this thing?

I mean i know how to scout, but these stats are just....

i dunno

I'm seriously considering this tank to be the absolute worst in the game at the moment. The absolute worst. It just can't do anything with those stats.

It need +20 pen at the very minimum. Else it just won't work, not even with apcr.

When it had the howitzer it was better than the 37mm at least you could do damage .I have the howitzer on the medium tank ,why they gave it the same gun twice is beyond me if the first one was no good then why add an auto loader version?

Play the medium before the m3 lee that's got the howitzer bit taller but almost as good

Yes the M5 is a really frustrating tank to play now. Mainly due to the abysmal penetration, but not helped by it not being that quick, having no armour, not many hitpoints and scout matchmaking.

I predict a big buff for it - even if it's just preferential matchmaking.

Either skip it with free xp or put good crew (camo, 6th sense), load APCR, try passive spotting and pray that you can unload 2-4 clips into some paper tanks.

Don't expect great results in it and you should be fine.

It's a terrible tank but you can just "do your work" and let the battle be on its own. It's not like other tier 4 light tanks can have better influence on the battle than M5 - all of them are terrible in tier 5-7 battles, maybe except chinese Stuart.

Autoloading gun is better IMO. You are forced into close combat anyway due to lack of pen but you lack mobility to stay on your targets long enough to kill them. Poke out of cover, empty your clip before enemy can notice you and react, then retreat. Of course you have to look of opportunities to engage tanks with no armour. Don't even try engaging tanks you can't harm or have low chances to damage.

Using this "tactics" I'm doing quite ok in this tank - at least I'm doing something so I get some xp if my team wins. So far I didn't have opportunity to do proper passive scouting in higher tier battle - I'm either or bad maps or team has superior tanks to do the scouting...

I free XPed past it, simply don't have a US crew capable of passive scouting.

The autoloader was worthless.

If you don't plan on using full gold forget about this tank. If you plan on using full gold, the tank will still be underpowered.

Autoloader gun is the best gun on the tank, it's better than old howitzer actually because after the nerfs low tier howitzers are not what they used to be.

The Autoloader was worthless the M5 is simply to slow to make use of it, if it was as mobile as the M3 then yes the Autoloader may have been useable.

I don't agree.

Yes, M5 is too slow to make good use of it but it's still the best way to do some damage. You can't stay in one place and keep shooting but you can quickly unload a clip and run away.

Standard gun would be better if this tank could fire from distance but you can't because your pen is low. You have to get close and get their rear - autoloader is better for this job.

Also, reload time on standard gun is pitiful for such low damage. It's in tier 2-3 territory...

Of course both guns are crap, but autoloading one is better option.

Autoloader is trash, normal gun is trash, mobility is bad, view range so-so. This is by far the worst tier 4 and I feel bad even having it in my garage.
