I first thought it looked like a early merkava tank. maybe Mk1-2,but the turret is to far forwards.Gimme some time and I might think of something else.

Merkava Mk1

It seems I was being tricked apparantly its one of three chieftains converted for film use we think into Soviet type tanks

I got as far as thinking it might be a Chinese Type 99 but the wheels are very wrong for Chinese or Russian.

I got this message today and more images

the answer to the question - what this tank was known as - is T95.
A Manchester business man owned 6 chieftains 3 of which were re-configured as 'T95s' for film work. These are two of them. They had the fuel tanks at the back, the lack of skirt armour and dummy reactive armour blocks on the turrets. This photo was taken at Botany Bay in Lancashire but I first encountered them at Louth, in Lincolnshire where I was part of team rigging the pyros on a tank battle featuring the vehicles.

So well done those that said Chieftain.
