Aparently, the only things that the T71 has over the M41 Walker Bulldog are the smaller size and probably ( but I have no ideea ) better camo...

Okay and -6 gun depression instead of -7: http://tank-compare.com/en/compare/t71/m41-walker-bulldog#T1=80I59I50I99I115&T2=531I432I47I640I115

Otherwise, comparing the Bulldog to the T71 this has:

  • same power to weight ratio
  • same traverse speed
  • better top speed
  • MUCH better DpM ( with the non-autoloading gun )
  • better terrain ressistance
  • better accuracy
  • better aim-time
  • sexy HD looks
  • solid historical background ( dunno why, but I care about that  )

I'm not that much of a light tank driver to warrant having both in my garage and I allready have Pz I C, ELC AMX, Type 62 and going for the Ru 251... and the BatChat 25t

So the question is: T71 or M41 Walker Bulldog?

What do you guys think?

One more advantege to the Bulldog. It can one-clip Tier 8 heavies (with a small luck ofc)

I prefer the M41, just because it feels more like driving a tank than a Go-Kart. T71 is still probably a better scout option. Obviously there is some "power Creep" otherwise not as many people would bother with it. Bulldog also has more hp too.

Sounds like the M41 has a huge weakness, third time in like 50 battles that my ammorack explodes from a T34 frontal shot. (happened with safe stowage using the autoloader)

I don't remember having this issue on T-71

Looks like Bulldog is going to get nerfed, as it's better then a T71 and T71 was already comfortably the best T7 light.  Now the only thing the T71 has going for it is auto loader clip size - 6 shots is about right.

Shoot a T71 and chances are it'll catch fire and you loose a crew member.

The main downside of M41 is drift turn. You need to slowdown a little to turn without it.

Yup, it is TOO FAST. Never thought I would be saying this. It got me even killed once in the grind towards the T49. #saysnuf

I've been driving the T71 for some time now. The biggest weakness of the T71 is the small clip size. If you fight another T71 and miss just a single shot, you cant kill it. The M41 just does not have that problem. The T71 have a slightly better acceleration and handle hills a bit better, but hitting any breakeable objects like a tree or a house, will slow it down quite dramaticly. The M41 does not have that problem for some reason.

The M41 have the option of a none autoloader gun, witch make it more versitile.

I can't make up my mind. I'll keep both for the moment...

Actually the Walker Bulldog has slightly better camo than the T71 according to this - http://www.wotinfo.net/en/camouflage?country=all&vehicletype=lt&tier=7&showLines=30

It's basically better than the T71 in every way.

I suspect it will get nerfed, it's not like the T71 is a bad tank at all.

T71 is the better tank, M41 is just new kid on the block and is current tank of the month, stats will settle & T71 will still win out.

Noscream,

How is the T-71 the better tank? on what basis are you placing that opinion?

I have a lot of battles in the T71, but since 9.3 the M41 have been getting most of my attention. I still have my T71 but every time i bring it for a spin, i feel it's greatly inferior to the M41. Since my last post i have almost stopped playing the T71 entirely, since the M41 is so much more fun to play with it's 1500 damage potential vs the 900 of the T71.

However, i will still be keeping my T71 since i fear the nerfbat will strike the M41 soon.

Here my take: 400 games on T71, 300 on M41.

T71 with only 6 shot per clip is really struggling to carry games when the team is bad. M41 both top guns are great for carrying. M41 might even be OP in that sense that its too powerfull.

T71 is better in passive and rolling scout. But M41 loses only in size.

One thing to mention also is the insane max speed of the M41 - relocation with the Bulldog is much more flixible.

If you have the T71 I would not get rid of it just yet and instead wait to see what happens with the Bulldog.  Personally, I am not even getting the M41 until a couple of patches time.  If it stays as it is I will transfer, but until then it is not like the T71 isn't a good tank.

Even though T71 gun should be just a little bit more accurate - I'm not feeling it. Rather the otherway around. I'm missing more long range fully aimed shots than WBD. WHich is really hurting as the clip is only 6-rounds.

I'm inclining towards the fact that T71 has been made obsolete. T71 just cant make the kind of impact that M41 can.

Going to sell T71 propably - why waste time on a dead end tank.

T71's good, but camo value is, according to Wotinfos camo calculator, a tad lower than the M41. It's probably easier to hide in a bush than the larger M41, but overall the Bulldog is the superior tank. The latter also has nice gun depression and is on the path to the T49, which is fun crafted in steel. T71 is certainly not the worst T7 scout, but unless you happen to have three sets of crew, it's no real doubt about it.

And yes, I've driven both of them, although not a lot.

ATM Bulldog > T71, maybe nerfbat will hit the bulldog soon but until then -> Bulldog. Although I prefer the T71 for pure scouting, but as an DD Bulldog is way better.

Bulldog its a good tank..but somehow i always lose whan i play it 45%WR on it so i'll be forced to sell it :/
Still i like this machine i guess i only get bad teams when i play it. Afraid of buying T49 tho

Love my T71, got 3 MoE and it's my best credit earner.

Don't have the Bulldog but when I see them on the opposite team they are usually driven very badly and die pretty quick. One thing I think the T71 has going for it over the Bulldog (maybe the only thing) is it's a smaller target to hit when you get into close quarters, finishing off lone tanks. Other than that it's probably better.

Bought it, but kept T71...just in case.  Correct I do more damage in the WBD, but I spot more with T71.  Also I have noted the ammo rack is very fragile on WBD and its large size means it is easier to target/hit.  The T71 also feels more nimble, but this again could be due to its smaller size.  It is the large size which leaves me yet to be fully convinced that it is the better tank.

Someone on the LTTB forum made the point that other light tanks are being ignored over the WBD because of the very fact it is such a good damage dealer.  I think they had a point as I, subjectively, seem to get shot at more in the WBD.  Perhaps because I shoot more, perhaps because of its size.  However, both are great tanks, but if the ammo rack goes every time you get hit the DPM advantage of the WBD becomes a moot point.  Another 50 games or so should establish this.  Equally any nerf to the DPM and it will be back to the T71 for me….at least my T37 gets it great loader back!
