As most of you (should) know, there is a new light tank line in the american tech tree. Those are all great tanks, but we are talking about the T37 now. The T37 is a great tank, it has great mobility and maybe even better: the gun! It doesnt have armor by the way but that doesnt matter for such a tank. The T37 has two guns on top of the reasearch tree, theyre both fast firing guns with a decent amount of damage and penetration, but there is one difference: one is an autoloader. they both have exactly the same damage (115/115/185) but the not autoloader gun, the T91 gun, has slighly better penetration (150/199/38) (T102=137/185/38). Though it is not much, it may be important to you. The autoloader had to reload around 20 seconds but then it has 5 rounds to fire. Between those rounds it takes 2 secons to fire. The T91 has around 3 seconds reload time. Now which gun do you think is better? Which One would you prefer? Tell me!

I'm running the normal gun for the higher penetration. Makes it easier to deal damage to armoured targets.

I prefer the autoloader cause I use it for strongholds, then I can shoot a tank a couple of times and then get cover and let the others do the work.

That autoloader is clearly not a viable option.

Penetration, RPM, Dispersion, Aim time, and even weight (which hampers mobility) are all way worse then the other options.

:izmena:I tried both, and went for the single shot instead of the autoloader. Yet on the Bulldog, with the autoloader I'm having a blast.

The higher pen gun is better, even in stronghold battles.

I have tried both guns. Autoloader makes T37 quite powerful at close/mid-range when you can load out 3-4 damaging shells fast before enemy can get away behind a building or something.  Reload 20 secs is not that long. But its a bad sniping gun.  Pen is not so big difference. You need to flank anyway.

Do you know what  "better" means?

The T91 only has an extra 13mm of penetration but it seems to be the difference between actually hurting enemy tanks and just drawing their attention.

Really, the people neg repping me for stating the obvious should have their WoT privileges removed. Permanently.

They can't even compare a list of stats.

I disagree, the non-autoloader goes straight through the front of all heavies in multiple places. With regular ammo and no time to aim. When cresting over something and shooting at heavies you're pretty much invincible (you only have to expose an inch of your turret for a millisecond to fire, so 90% of the enemy shots will go into the ground or over you). The reign of the heavy tank is over.

I honestly don't see the point in an autoloading gun that reloads in 2 seconds while having a superior gun that reloads in 3.

If it had 10 shots like the Bulldog, and had the same pen as the none autoloading gun, yeah I would understand, but gimping one's pen, aim time, accuracy, and everything else just to have 1 less second to reload...Doesn't seem worth it.

yup, single-shot all the way! better accuracy, better aim time, better penetration :) It is a pleasent tank to drive, although the old chaffee had much better agility (and was a bit more accurate while moving)...

Yeah, with the Bulldog there is more debate over the guns, but with the T37 I just don't see why you would pick it.  90% of the time you will be better off with standard gun.

Oh, yeah it is like the old Chaffee I think the gun actually is better overall, but it is not as light on its feet.  I also seem to be much better off with the MM.

T91 gun all the way. The Autoloader just is just bad by all respects (clip reload/clip size/pen/accuracity/aim time). If it had the same pen as T91 or just 1 more round in clip, it might be worth it.

How I see it is by fear factor. 550 average clip damage output just dont cut it. Light tank has to pose somekind of threat or risk simply getting rushed. with 550 average damage in clip anyone can do the math. If you got 600 health left just rush and get easy kill out of T37 when he spends 20s to reload.

Autoloader plain and simple. In a light tank you are not supposed to go at enemies frontally and when you have their sides and rear 137 pen is more than enough.

With the autoloader you can do a lot of damage in a short period of time and retreat to reload. With the single shot gun you have to expose yourself more frequently to put the shots in and that is something you don't want to do in a tank without armour.

Closed the grind on this one off with 3.747,96 wn8 and 62% win ratio over 55 battles. All with the autoloader, didn't bother with the "better" single shot gun.

I can't even make the 150mm pen cannon work on this. I know exactly how easy it should be sailing through the sides and backs of Tanks but bounce, bounce and bounce. Massively frustrating. But my Jadtiger's cannon can't even pen medium tanks lower plates at the moment so guessing it's my turn for ridiculously bad RNG.

Ummm... I'm missing an option in the poll - the old chafee gun - T94

Im maybe way too crazy, but the 2nd is really the best one for me. Tried the autoloader on test and its abysmal DPM scared me of. Tried the "better" non autoloader and the dispersion and aimtime was like a day and night compared to the second gun.
Yeah you might lose a bit penetration, but the accuracy on the move with the T94 is way better to live with this handicap. With a tank that has 680 HP and sees tanks like E75 and Obj 704 you cant waste your time aiming. Just pop out, shoot, screw aiming. For tier 9 Heavies sides you have to use gold anyway, 13mm pen more wont make you pen reliably anyway.
And btw - t94 also has the highest DPM of all t37 guns. Not by much, but stil higher than t91.
Try it out and see for yourself ;)
