I have laptop with I7 4 core 2.7 Ghz cpu and high end powerfull desktop with AMD A series 4 core 4.2 Ghz.

70 - 90 fps on laptop and ~60 on desktop. So here is your answer.

BUT

Everything may change when we will get Havok engine soonTM.

I personally find that it very much depends on budget at the time you are looking to purchase, and of course personal preference.

If you're really working on a tight budget but want the best performance at the minute for the lowest cost, then I'd get an FX-6300 and a decent GPU and just run that for 2-3 years before upgrading again.

If money isn't that tight and you have a good amount to spend to begin with, go down the Intel route 9 times out of 10 IMHO as their performance IS better the vast majority of the time, they are generally much cheaper to run in terms of power usage costs and sadly the current AM3+ socket is basically a dead end meaning little chance to upgrade further down the line.

I've been running an AMX FX-6300 with 7870XT card since last June and it's run EVERYTHING I've thrown at it on max settings (that includes things like Bioshock Infinite, Crysis 3, Tomb Raider etc) without a problem. It runs WoT maxed out at around 40-60 fps which is more than good enough, and the whole unit has been great so far.

So you can see that I'm not biased here when suggesting Intel, as I currently run on an AMD setup that I have nothing bad to say about it!

What's your budget? It's like asking which car is faster - an Audi or a Mercedes (no models given). Intel is better and more expensive, to the point of an old model costs more than a brand new AMD (usually). So it depends on your budget.

Also WoT might not have multi-core support, but that does not mean you should buy a dual core processor.

Rubbish on a budget AMD  is better. you have very slightly less reliability but for home use that's no issue.

This reliability is due to AMD tends to run hotter than Intel.

Industry says an AMD PC probably has a bout 20% more support time needed over intel! so for busineses you buy intell for home AMD is fine

I have worked in IT for 20 years  the last 14 in the Banking and Space industry. I have always advised Home users to buy AMD. better Value for money. The cash u save can you can get more mem and the like

+1, that's about the best cpu you can get for wot atm. Anything more expensive than that will only give marginal performance improvements.
