Stronghold attack/defence tank tier(s), battle size

Hello!

 

Attacking/defending Strongholds sounds like a great idea in principle. But why use only tier 10 tanks (15 of them!)?

After all, there is already Clanwars for people who like to play only/mainly tier 10 tanks.

 

Especially for smaller and/or younger clans it will be impossible to put up a defence (15 tier 10 tanks, 6 days a week!), and hence they are practically excluded from this game mode.

 

There are alternatives:

Option 1: (over)use the already omnipresent tank tiers (6,8,10)

- attack/defend Strongholds of tier 5 or 6 with tanks up to tier 6

- attack/defend Strongholds of tier 7 or 8 with tanks up to tier 8

- attack/defend Strongholds of tier 9 or 10 with tanks up to tier 10

 

Option 2: I think there are many fun tanks also on the odd tier numbers (5, 7, 9). Why not give them a game mode apart from random battles?

- attack a Stronghold of tier X: you (and defender) may use tanks up to tier X

 

If you do not want to play tier 5, 7 or 9?

- attack: don't attack Strongholds of tier 5, 7 or 9

- defence: upgrade to next even tier as fast as possible

 

Option 3: You set a battle tier number which must be equal to or greater than the tier of your Stronghold. You defend with tanks up to this tier, and you may attack other Strongholds only with tanks up to this tier.

 

Example: you have a  Stronghold of tier 7, but you set your battle tier number to 10: you can attack with (and can be attacked by) tanks up to tier 10. You may not choose a battle tier number below 7.

 

⇒ I think option 3 is the best way to go, as nobody is forced to play tank tiers he doesn't like (or doesn't have), and all those who want to play this mode on tier 10 only can do so right after upgrading their Stronghold to tier 5! On the other hand, younger clans with lower tank tiers can also participate!

 

Of course, the rewards that can be gained should increase with increasing tank tier!

 

Next thing is the battle size. As you have to defend 6 days a week, 15 vs. 15 is too large in my opinion (especially for smaller clans!).

I think 8 vs. 8 or 10 vs. 10 are good sizes. In 8 vs. 8 you can e.g. play 4 platoons of 2 tanks, 2 platoons of 3 and one platoon with 2 tanks, etc. . If you have 10 tanks per side you can also include some 'specialist' tanks (e.g. SPGs), which may not be such a good option in smaller games...

 

Again, there are several options to fix the game size:

- Option A: one for all, regardless of tier

- Option B: depending on Stronghold tier, e.g.: Stronghold tier 5 to 7: 8 vs. 8 and Stronghold tier 8 to 10: 10 vs. 10

- Option C: set the battle size for your Stronghold individually to 8 or 10 (for attack and defence). However, this may make finding opponents difficult (with Option 3 above, opponents have to have the same battle tier and game size settings as you)

- ...

 

I can live with options A or B here, I would just like that the battle size does not exceed 10 vs. 10 (or 12 vs. 12 at most).

Nah, current way is good. We can grief new clans with no tier 10 tanks and take their boxes without a fight.

the other player is correct tier 10 should be by choice what is the point of doing all that work to just get pillaged by top clans

that way, no other clans are possibble to advance since other "overpowered" clans take away all our resources! that's just mean!

some of the better clans thrive on it easy wins for them

In which patch can we finally expect nerf of "overpowered" clans? This issue has been addressed by most of the player base for a long time and still is not solved. Wargaming's balancing department should look at this more closely and restore proper balance. Game is really unplayable recently because of it.   :P

I'm suggesting that the old strongholds be returned ... It was much more interesting to fight, but there were also a lot more players in the game at 03: 00,04: 00 ... and not like now ... I like everything else, only that The mode of warfare, and the regime attack is totally dumb ... It was better when you could directly attack some stronghold ...

lol, people complaining about OP clans, that they should be nerfed and that they are just mean. I thought we were in a competitive game. If you don't like competition and difficult to beat opponents I suggest you find a 'kinder' game.
