The Locust and its role

CoyDK's Photo CoyDK 03 Jul 2011

I have driven the Locus in a handfull of maps and I realy cant find out what role it have, its useless as a scout compared to many other tanks. Its not heavy enough to take any real punishment and its not armed enogh to be a good medium. I dont like it, it needs more firepower or better speed.

I'm not sure if your aware, but all premium tanks perform worse than their same-tier counterparts. At best they are as good as a medium-upgraded vehicle of the same tier. This is done intentionally, obviously so that those to "buy themselves ahead" won't really get too much of an advantage. Basically you'll have to fight just a little harder and be just a little better to properly contest your rivals. Just putting that out there, don't be offended if you already know, it's a "just in case" thing.

That said I haven't driven the Locust (nor have I any real intentions to, it doesn't seem very interesting =p), so it may well be that it's worse than it should be, but know that the performance of a premium tank should always be taken with a grain or two of salt ^^.

M22 Locust was meant ot be a light tanks for the airborne troops to use. Hence C****y armour and a useless gun.  :(
The M22 was only used by the British paratroopers and carried in the Hamilcar glider.
Now do u understand why M22 Locust is not very good?

I have to say, that the Locust and the T2 Light are the most fun tanks in the game. Except perhaps on Malinovka, you can always punish your opponent using your speed. I can not count the arties and TDs dying by my pfew-pfew-gun anymore. :D It is more difficult to do so in a Locust than in the T2L, but still a lot of fun ;)

I know this might sound weird but when I did this round:

I was actually sniping from the hill as well as circling my enemies.
When I get against Tier 4's and Tier 5's I try to be a scout a first and then take the oppurtunity to destroy artillery or just get the attention, while my team gets haywild on the enemy.

As you can see on the next screen I even got the Orlik's Medal on it. I think it's a great tank for rushing / attacking other Tier 3's and below. Otherwise you just have to improvise.

Just try to play it the best you can and figure out a tactic / role that suits you.

Well, the maximum you can encounter are Tier 5's. Unless you party up with guys that can encounter Tier 9 TD's. So let's see it was his own damn fault ;)

Its purpose was as a VERY light air-borne tank so that's why it has paper armour and a pea shooter. And the stupid thing about it is that the Americans didn't have a glider big enough to carry it so they all went to the British with their Hamilcar gliders that could only just carry that heap of scrap... so it is a hopeless pile of junk :P

Bought him today and he is really fun playing.
But also matched in way way too many Tier5 Battles where he is slightly too weak.
Should be 50 : 50 which is ok then.

This little guy is amazingly good fun.

You're the lowest tank out there so you can cover in many positions that enemies can't hit you. A good Camo net and Camo crew skill are a must. Slap on some Binoculars and you're laughing.

Pick your targets well and you can cause damage. I've got a replay were I caused total destruction of at least 8 enemy vehicles, and took 10 hits in her.

This little tank must be the hardest to hit vehicle in the game, it's almost as if it can dodge shells.

Its the height. I just had a game were someone was shooting at an enemy and I cut in front of him. His shots passed over the top of my tank by miles :)

Nice little tank, useless against tier 5, but amazing on its own tier. It just get dumped in tier 5 matches way to often :Smile_confused:  some 70% of all games I think..

I love my Locust too.
The key with it is get it moving and keep it moving and that will make you very hard to hit.

The main use i have found for it is to get right in the enemys face and distract them, while they're trying to hit you and missing the rest of your team is shooting them.
I came across 4 enemy tanks in a group the other day, drove around them shooting and did a little damage. They never hit me once and they were then hit by 5 or so of my team and quickly destroyed.

Open maps are great because you can get the speed up and have room to zig zag and drive all over the place randomly. Built up areas are much harder because you can't really use your speed.

I use locust to give more exp on my chaffee crew ;) I play it like people play t50-2 , but without stupid 30s death :P When you are at 3 tier tanks game you can run to opponent base and light them all , much times they can't hit me and my team shot them like a ducks , sometimes i am looking for artillery and killing them, but with ~50dmg it is not easy .
Avg credit income is about 20k , nice premium tank for its prize.
