Ok special, but I'm always worried when there is a reward with a min amount of kills ; kill stealing is going to be over 9k :-(

So the solo mission needs 60,000 xp.

Average xp of say 600 (mine is slightly higher but assume I have a poor weekend) that is 100 battles.

at 15 minutes a battle that is 25 hours of play or 12.5 hours a day over the weekend (yes I work week days).

Or if the battles are the more typical 7.5 minutes then 6hrs 15 minutes

So that is an exciting special .... NOT.

Anaverage game is more like 6 minutes, doubles count, nobody is making you do it.

Missions are fine, Crew xp is fine, but it feels it should have some special offer, 1/2  price crew training or something.

Wait until next week.

More than 90 % of players play outside of platoons, meaning that any special geared towards platoons is missed by over 90 % of players, but of course game designers have their right to choose who to give presents to - as well as players have their own right to choose whether to play or not.

Question on special in general, noticing these are are starting Saturday morning and ending Tuesday morning (effectively bedtime on Monday). As these are considered weekend specials, why don't they include the Friday evening? I would so much prefer to include the Friday evening over the Monday evening...

Of course they are not making me, or paying me but they are supposed to be enticing me to play.

How about a special bonus that you can have for say 2 hours, and you get to activate when you come on play. It is not like there are not enough players on the server at weekends when they always do them.

Not sure if the average game is 6 minutes, you might well be right about that, but this just shows most games are steamrollers and we need team balancing badly.

There was a time when they did run Fri to Sunday. No idea why they changed, but for me Monday is actually better (can't please all the people all the time ...)

Way, way back they even proposed 5 man platoons in random battles, but it never appeared presumably because of game balance concerns (not that they really seem bothered about that now)

Ahaha!
Another long overdue news update on this weekends "special" (WG: "Specials will be posted Thursday at the latest") and when some lazy pants finally manage to publish the thing, its this meh-fest
Well, holiday specials better be good (cause they're gonna be mostly unplayable) and as someone else says, one can always play something else this weekend (and the next?) :smiles:

Dear WG, have you heard of Operation Uranus?..I expect so because World of Warplanes are having a special for it.  Yet World of Tanks is not, not a good idea to have a special to mark the 70th anniversary of this Soviet offensive?

Yet more proof that WG has lost its way regard to military (WW2) specials?

How many 70th anniversary operations have been missed?

I see nothing wrong with them using a few of the 52 weekend specials a year to try and encourage "90%" of their players to try and make some friends and enjoy the game on another level..

Individual skill is important but every tank is only as good as the tank beside it. Show some true teamwork this weekend and fight for a common cause!

Mission to encourage platoons, when I'm trying to grind through tier 9 where games are already grossly unbalanced & unfair for solos due to the over presence of platoons.

Just...

nope, I checked, can't find a smiley face picture of someone beating their head against a brick wall.

edit - this mission might just be enough to make me finally quit this game. Leo PTA is impossible to play solo cuz of the plague of platoons in high tier games, this will make it even worse. I bet if they separated out the wr's for platoon & solo on the PTA, solo server wr on it would be only something like 42%.

Platooning is the biggest cheat going, allows people to win games they'd never win on their own & entirely at the expense of solos. And WG just ramped that unfairness up. Played 6 games on my PTA so far today, lost 5, every single one due to either moron platoons on my side or competent platoons on the other. At high tier, for support tanks like PTA, platooning relegates the solo player so they have virtually no chance of influencing the game. Just absolute trash mission.

I never play platoons. Look at my win rate.

^ You've never played the Leo PTA, ur tier 9's are almost all hvys, which obviously aren't support tanks reliant on their team. The PTA is a grossly unbalanced tank. It's server stats are appalling, overall 48.9% wr, but I bet if you took platooning out, the solo wr would be low 40's. At high tier, this game is grossly unbalanced to advantage hvys (&TD's), and people platooning in meds. WG seem to think everyone else can just go suck one.

eg - last few days, been playing almost nothing but my PTA, getting 1,750+WN8, but less than 47% wr on it. Doesn't matter how well I do in it, as a solo in a PTA I have virtually no chance to influence the outcome of high tier games full of platoons.]

edit again, lol, last 45 games solo on my Leo PTA, WN8 1,987, WR 40%... but I finally got my Master Tanker on it! Ace :smiles:

The missions are doable, but way too hard for that silly reward.  If there wasn't that double crew exp. modifier this would most certainly be the worst special ever.
