I just ordered a brand new PC for me and wanted to get thoughts about it. What kind of performance could I expect from it?

Intel Core i5-4690 @ 3,5GHz quad core

MSI Geforce GTX 760 Gaming OC Edition

MSI Z97 Guard Pro mobo

2x4Gb Crucial Ballistics 1600MHz RAM

1Tb storage (I'll probably get a second 1Tb hard drive if I crack open my external hard drive and plant it inside the new rig)

Cooler Master B700 700W PSU

Cooler Master N300 case

I also got a new display, Asus VE248H 24" Full-HD. I already have a good mouse and keyboard so those I didn't need. I'm gonna have to put the thing together by myself but I hear that's not overly difficult? I've never built a PC myself yet so this will be my first one.

assuming you mean world of tanks

on max settings you should get 30-60 FPS id say it will average 45 or there abouts

Since everyithing else and their grandma is better optimised than WoT i expect that your FPS should be fine

well it depends on the game.. ''other games'' isnt very specific! are you playing DOOM or are you playing Star citizen?

some games will run on max settings at 60+fps others will barely run at 30fps.

there exist a few websites where you can input your system specs to see what frames you will likely achieve. you can also google your GPU and intended game and check youtube videos for performance information.

I see CPU is not overclocking version (k) at the end. In that case its pointless to get such motherboard and PSU. If you're not going to overclock 550W PSU will be more than enough, and MSI B75-G43 will fit right in (im using it and its good).

Invest money you save in GPU. Many people make the mistake of buying too good PSU/MB and not overclocking, this comes from lack of knowledge.

If you do want overclock you need to invest in better PSU since its only bronze (lowest tier) and aftermarket cooling.

Oh well. I thought people only create such threads BEFORE ordering to confirm they're choosing the right stuff, not after...

that would be the logical thing. Maybe this thread is simply e fapping over new hardware.

Partly yes. But since some parts are unavailable atm and will only be available in a couple weeks (CPU, and the case), if I want to still modify the order I am able to do so and will take you considerations in account :)

Where I'm ordering from (I'm not ordering from overseas so only Finnish web stores) the mobo you're suggesting is actually 10€ more expensive than the one I picked. Also changing the PSU to a 550W one could save me 15€, but it's not going to get me any better a GPU than the MSI GTX760 :( Thanks for the input though!

One thing I started thinking of was the RAM speed. The one I currently picked is 1600MHz, but how much better would 2188MHz be? Would I even notice it in any way?

I have similar setup and i can run WoT on max setting with 50-60fps. I also had a 1600mhz RAM, then i upgraded to 2133mhz and it gave me cca. 10% performance boost.

Anyway, your setup should be good enough.

it looks a decent set up, personally i wouldnt have gone with the 760, its end of line and the 970, even though more expensive, is a far better bet and will last you longer.

Dont worry too much about the memory either, 1600mhz is going to do the job well for you.

I'll probably be upgrading to the 970 in a year or so, but right at this moment my budget just couldn't hold the extra 150€ it would've cost me:( But good thing is the 760 comes with a coupon for 150€ to spend on WT, Infinite Crisis and Strife (50€ each). 970 would've come with a coupon for [edited]Creed Unity or Far Cry 4, both of which can be obtained through... other venues...:hiding:
