I've just inadvertently installed some malware and am having major snags removing it. Its called isearch.omiga-plus.com

Any advice would be appreciated. I've tried

I'm normally fairly careful when downloading stuf fhence, I'm wary of downloading random malware removal tools, unfortunately I wasn't paying much attention this evening, like a muppet and am now in a cyber world of faeces!

Any/all advice would be most welcome. Thanks.

Try malwarebytes and superantispyware. They both have free versions and are quite reliable.

Thanks Psarandis, tried both of those now and both seem to detect and quarantine it but the feckin' thing is still there. So bloody annoying. Forgot to mention previously that System Restore wouldn't work either.

I'm away now until New Year and offline for the duration but if anyone has any other ideas I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

another one is spybot 2 search and destroy it can keep your browser safe by using the immunization tool it is also for free as well.

hope that helps.

also it seems like you have unwanted software rather than a piece of malware.

if you ever had nationzoom on your browser you would understand.

here are some links on how to get rid of it.

Malwarebytes as mentioned is pretty potent. Have you tried to start up your pc in safe mode and then running the software?

Just popped in as I am having a long break from WOT. Ref your issue, when my new pc turned up in Nov I managed to install something pretty nasty that looks in your system for all sorts of personal data and replicates itself in e-mails. Norton and Spybot could see it but couldn't remove it. Three engineers quoted minimum £50 for virus removal. The fourth recommended I run the free version of Malwarebytes (nice guy didn't want paying either-unusual these days). Virus cleared and I have invested in a year subscription. It's the bis mate.

Top tip:-stay off porn sites (Navy News / Janes / The Type 42 Association etc etc) and you won't get a virus.

Happy Xmas Shippers!

Thanks for all your advice chaps / chappettes. I think I'm on top of it now. The Malwarebytes seemed to have removed it but as the pesky thing had also overwritten all of  the shortcut addresses, every time I clicked on them it took me back to the isearch webpage. Purely an oversight by me. Just a quick right click on the shortcut and change the address in properties sorted that bit out for me.

Anyway, I appreciate all your help and bid you all a Happy New Year etc etc, especially to Berlin. May all your (wet) dreams be of Liv, Abi and their many, many sisters. :girl: :girl:  :great:    :girl: :girl:

To prevent future accidental installations, i recommend installing Unchecky. It heuristically analyses started installers for hidden options and turns them off.

Indeed, although Kevbar was a shore side Naval Rating who periodically went to sea (Well, caught the Torpoint Ferry from his seedy one room flat above the Carbeile Inn, where he was reputed to 'befriend' young sailors from HMS Raleigh) whilst I was what is commonly known as a Jedi Knight Radar plotter.

Was out in Oz in 1997. Fremantle for a week. Second best run ashore I had (Manila 1st-Phwoooorrrr!!!!!).

Kevbar......I cannot calculate the odds of you ending up Skyping my wife (how'd you know she was called ping pong?). But before you get excited, she said to tell you a) she says to all callers "you number one" b) whatever you waved at the screen that evening, she's seen bigger lumps in porridge.............

On that basis, it is my sad duty to issue you a well deserved....

Hi Danny, I take it from the usage of the word 'Pom' that you are from 'the colonies' specifically the one with big feckin' bouncing rats! Are you in the in the UK now, if so welcome back and which particular 'Walkabout Bar' do you work in?

Like young Berlin123... here, (young as in 'sprightly', his favourite song is 'Bye-bye Blackbird' (Bless his rotten socks!))   I've also been to Freemantle and had a great night in Clancy's Fish Bar watching a band called Blueshaddy. Was only there for 4 days in 2004 and it rained every single bloody day. Contrary to Berlin's addled waffling, I actually spent more time under the sea than he spent scrubbing decks, and believe me, as a 'Jedi Knight Radar plotter' :sceptic: he's done a lot of that :P

"how'd you know she was called ping pong?" Everyone in Devonport knows that one :girl:

I think on the grounds of common decency and before someone reports you, you should change your avatar; adding facial features to your butt-plug does not disguise it in the slightest.

G'day mate (Stereotypical reply)

I am infact one of "God's own chosen race" from Nelsons Bay NSW.

But I am living in a village near Brands Hatch til this time next year when I return home to the "Bonza Blokes"

Work is the only reason i'm here, just doing some data analysis/testing stuff for the motor industry.

edit. weird, I wrote more stuff yesterday & now it's vanished??..............
