So I have seen this premium gift tank in my garage and have not played with it yet, killed a few In my cruiser 3 as loads of people yolo deathed them selves. Just wondered what the impression was of it, is it any fun,  any use (just thinking about the vickers and its lack of pen when it 1st was gifted )will it be any good to train scout crews?

it is pretty bad. the worst part is speed. it is very sluggish. With regular ammo you can't pen much frontally, so have to use gold ammo (pretty costy). And too slow for flanking. regular MM.

I think the T7 Car, or Vlc (british one) are a lot better due to mobility and limited matchmaking.

T-15 is really cheap and is quite good for low tier crews (mine is training luch's crew). While I can see the american (T7 Car) or british (Vlc) tanks used for crew training, I'm pretty sure mine german counterpart will be left to gather dust in the corner of garage.

Furry muff, I may put my awful Panther Crew in it for a blast and see what happens. At least it's free if it is a bit bonk, I take it at a future patch they will buff the stats some where after most people have sold it

I check the stats and atm it's pretty much useless. No urge to play it.It's much worse than regular Pz II in mobility and gun.

My thoughts exactly.
Hell, even if people dont want to play it- fine, but keep it since there might be special missions for it in future.
If you do a mission, where premium tank that you have in garage is a prize, then after completing the mission you will get gold equivalent of said tank(its price in gold).
I think it already was the case for LTP, which many ppl sold because "aww bad WG, gives out cr-p tanks, thx for free slot" and after some time there was piss-easy mission where you could win it. Since i had it already, i got like 700-800 gold instead. Which is nice.

Now, i know that this whole "gold-refund for a tank" is about to get changed(as in- refund is in credits instead of gold), but IIRC it is going to apply to gift-codes, not the prize tanks themselves.

As for Pz2d itself, im thankfull for WG for this gift. You see, i had a hard time "acing" my tier2 frenchy LTs lately. Luckily, tier2 games right now are filled with low-pen autocannons derping around, so it was my chance.

I feel almost bad for this match(forget the kills and damage dealt, check damage blocked by armor).
So again, thx WG for the tank, its a gift that keeps on giving ;)

It was funny to see yesterday a ton of those gift tanks enrolling into Tier II battles. But as a German tank collector, of course I decided to give it a try. Well, I have some success with it, managed to aced it twice in around 30 battles I played, but I cannot recommend it.

Its main problem is awful gun. As someone mentioned, you cannot penetrate T18 even from behind. So, you will need to keep few gold ammo rounds for such cases. Actually, in my opinion, it's the worst German gun available in WOT.

Second problem is mobility, this tank moves pretty sluggishly even on paved road.

Only advantage of this tank is its frontal hull armour of 30 cm, but its turret armour is weak on all sides. So, when engaged against this tank from the front, just aim to the turret. Interestingly, a lot of players still didn't learn this fact, yesterday I won numerous duels against Panzer II Ds by just shooting at their turret, while their shoots bounced from my hull plate.

In short, this tank is inferior to regular Pz II in all respect, except in having 40 more hit points. But, being a premium vehicle and a German tank, it will stay in my garage, waiting to be occassionally used.

Currently I'm also in the camp of 'keep it for they might buff it a bit' and a wee bit farming x2 XP for first victory of the day.

Basically it plays like a regular Pz.II in near-stock configuration (but worse side and rear armor) the slightly higher hitpoints are a bad trade for being stuck with a level 1 gun and a flimsy turret, and the theoretical higher speed you barely ever reach thanks to significantly worse power/weight ratio and ground resistance so no real improvement either.

It's too slow. Even with apcr, it loses pen over distance too much. There is no good reason for this to meet tier 3 tanks, other than to make you lose lots of credits firing apcr.

The worse thing is that nobody seems to know how to kill T18s with these things. I ended up ambushing one from behind just to find out it bounces on the rear superstructure with the Russian ac. At least the rear hull was weak.

the hull front is supposed to be decent but no one shoots there any sane player goes for the turret because its an easy pen and guess when the commander and gunner are

The sadest part is that the Pz 1 with better guns and acceleration got better mm than the Pz 2 D, id say it needs buffs in mm and much better rof as it got crappen.

With full premium ammo it can be fun...frontal armor is not bad against other T2. 1000 average xp in first 3 match, so can do the job

I kinda like it and will keep like i did with the tetrarch

You do realize turret is 15mm thick? Thats low enough for a 50 cal to pen you from 250m.

My impression is as follows: slow, weak, impotent gun, this all means that all that drive this tank in battle are walking frags for the others.

I expected something better from WG. This crapy tank just cant stand along Tetrarch, T1E6 or LTP.

Noobs in T2 battle often shoot randomly, or doesn't know "weakspot"

It's not an op tank for sure, but i find it fun enough to keep.

Downside: i bleed credit^^

Then I rather use my T7 or the mini batchat T1E6 with same armor but with real firepower.
