This tweak will not negatively impact the game FPS. Quite the opposite, without the micro freezes it will run smoother.
If you have the micro freezes, just try it and see for yourself.

You are however correct that SSDs should not be defragged. OP should probably add that so people don't mess up their SSDs.
Great little mod works really well! And the game only uses 1,2GB RAM.

why cant i edit my own engine_config.xml
i want to get a higher FPS, because i have an 144hz monitor (i dont want to start what a eye can pick up) just wanna know how to edit it.
i already tried trough notepad++ but i get strange symbols like: NULL etc.

you need wottools to "unpack" the xml files.
