*600 games update*

Grind wise nothing much has changed since the 500 games update, I'm now at the stage where it takes hundreds of games to get anywhere on a standard account... and it's painful. I've never been good at sticking to a single tank for hundreds of games because it simply bores me to death, which is why even AoA after 25k games only has 1 tank with over 1000 games played.

Anyway I'm still grinding the T-44, all modules I want are unlocked now. I'm skipping the last engine to save 27k exp and I don't care about the 122mm gun, so next stop is the T-54. Only problem is I have 86k exp to go until that point, so due to my standard account the 700 games update coming in the future will also be on the T-44, oh yeah! -.-

So what kind of progress has been made with the fully upgraded T-44?

Well the WR improved significantly, yesterday it was 62% but after a TERRIBLE day it's now down to 58%, will do my best to recover that over the next hundred games.

The average damage keeps rising, as does the WN8 in the tank.

Service record

Overall WN8, I'm pretty proud of this actually. I expected I'd have to struggle hard to reach super unicum playing stock tanks and using absolutely no premium ammo but... I guess I underestimated myself.

Here are the ratings of all the medium tanks I've been grinding through. The T-34 had a really bad crew and I didn't play it for long or the results would (probably) be better.

The T-44 was 1900 WN8 as you may remember when I unlocked the second gun, it's now just below super unicum and rises every time I play the tank.

T-44 stats (rising)

And here are the only 3 ace mastery games I've managed in the T-44 so far.

anytime i hear someone say the game is pay to win i will direct them to this thread i think as pay to progress and pay to win are two different things.

If you had premium time, gold ammo etc.. how close do you think you would be to tier 10 as you are a skilled player ??

With premium account and limited gold ammo usage I have no problems averaging over 1000 exp playing tanks solo.

So considering that I should have 600,000 exp + 30,000 free exp. (5% of exp earned)

That should be enough to be at the T-54 with the modules unlocked and working on unlocking the 140 I think.

T-34-85 (which I still play when the T-44 is locked) 98,48%

T-43 was 92,35% and still rising when I finished the grind. It would have hit 95% with 10-15 more games.

T-44 is 91,68%, been going up lately but not sure if it will reach 95.

very very nice progress.

and not a single comment regarding the T-44's low penetration with standard ammo...I get so tired when I read some people complain that this tank "needs" gold.

biggest pain in the backend will be T9 stock, when pushing through like you are now you will not be able to get sufficient free exp saved up to buy the improved modules and the stock gun would give you a slow start (both credit and exp wise..as T9's are bloody expensive to repair as a F2P). as a F2P it should take you close to 400 games to get through a tier 9 (70K on modules and 200K for the next tank) provided you don't "skip" modules

I think the 144 pen stock grind on the T-44 was worse than the T-54 will be with 175 but that remains to be seen. I'll have enough free exp for the turret once I reach the T-54 so it will be a 60k grind for the gun.

It will be very painful though...

Which means I will need 310k exp earned to unlock the obj 140. I'm expecting I can average 700 non-prem exp if I play well... so yes about 450-500 games on the T-54.

When it comes to money I don't think I'll have any problems, at least once I get the gun. Still making nice profits on tier 8.

Would this game, in your opinion, be better if premium ammo was changed or removed? I'm not asking due to "omg, mah heavi were penned, dood!", but if I recall back when we had 3 tier spread, the matches were more interesting. A Maus for instance wouldn't bother shooting a Vk3002DB, since it couldn't penetrate him at all. Saw a whole lot of flanking then as well. Not that it is extremely different now, but tanks such as the T-54 and T-69 can negate a whole lot of their balancing simply by shooting premium ammo.

Would it be better? In my opinion, yes.

But then my opinion is quite biased. Removing premium ammo would simply make me and other really good players more OP than ever.

Why? Well my experiment kind of explains that. Good players do not need premium ammo to rule the battlefield, it's weaker players that need it to "balance" the field.

You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day

Whoa! Nicely sayed. Thats is absoluty true about "gold ammo". Best answer ever and ive been reading these forums since i started to play back in 2011. I come tomorrow to +1 that. :medal:

Well, I hardly use any premium myself, purely because I don't need to (in most cases, can only think of a handful of games where prem. ammo would have made the difference) and I find the game more interesting this way. It's usually faulty tactics or wrong decisions that "bring me down". Not that I'm complaining; perfectly happy with my skill level.

There were some talks about replicating this experiment a second time, but as full P2W as a comparison to the F2P RetardedLion, however I made some calculations on what it would take to actually make a "true" stats oriented re-roll. Honestly it's quite shocking to me that people pay THIS much to re-roll.

So maybe first I should explain what the most tryhard stat rerolls do to maximize stats.

They get a tier 8 premium tank (mostly IS-6 for it's great carry potential, WN8 potential and credit making potential) which they use to earn credits for equipment/tanks and free exp to convert in order to skip all module grinds and tanks they don't wish to play or that are "too bad".

Obviously they get premium account as well and retrain crews for gold every time they move it, same with dropping and retraining skills for gold.

Next they do of course use A LOT of premium ammunition to maximize results. Some even buy credit packages to keep up with the flow of credits due to premium ammo.

These people can spend 300-500€ to complete the tier 1-10 grind.

So I made calculations of a less severe P2W example, but it would still be extremely expensive. In this example I'd be able to skip MOST modules, not all but the important ones. I'd still have to play every single tank and grind it elite though.

I'd need an IS-6 for credits and free exp, premium account for 1 month to start with and the gold to retrain crews and move equipment, I'd skip retraining skills for gold though, it's enough as long as they're 100%.

I'd play with limited premium ammo so credit packages would not be needed at all, even if my results suffer slightly from the moderate use of prem ammo.

350k free exp to skip MOST modules between MS-1 and Obj 140. Free exp converts at 1000 / 40 gold so that would be 14,000 gold.

1 month premium account for obvious reasons. Maybe a second month later but preliminarily 2,500 gold.

crew gold retraining x 35 to get all the way to T-54 with 100% crew, plus the IS-6. Without crew discount that's 200x35 = 7,000 gold.

(maximum) 27 equipment moves at 10 gold each = 270 gold.

IS-6 = 11,800 gold.

This adds up to ~36,000 gold which with the 30,500 and 5,500 gold packages would cost 99,99 + 19,99 € or 120€ in total.

This is definitely not a sum I'm going to spend on this game for the experiment, nor do I think any of you are interested in doing so. Even with the minor donations from different people offered I don't think we'd get anywhere close so perhaps the follow up experiment will have to be scrapped. :)

While we're on the subject of marks of excellence, here you go.

175mm pen at tier 8 requires premium ammo? I think not.

Took around 2500 average damage + damage assisted the last 100 games to pass 95%.

Rumor has it that Angel will try to get three marks on the T-43 on his main account once this is finished. He loved the tank so much.
